A few pictures of the new Teensy LC
I've been selected to beta test a new board from PJRC, the Teensy LC. This Arduino-compatible board has an ARM chip that runs at 48 Mhz, comes with 64K Flash, 8K RAM, 27 IO pins and much more, for less than $12.00. I've been looking at getting into some basic embedded programming and I have been interested in something like a teensy 4.1 but as someone that is new to embedded programming, it looks potentially interesting and I'd like to understand what kinda of things could it be used for?

I’ve been using it in my research for data acquisition in remote areas. The onboard SD card is pretty nice and it has a crap ton of I/O. Having so many hardware serial ports is great. Pretty solid community support. It can pretty much do anything. The one kind of weird quirk about it is that it’s so absurdly fast that you get issues you wouldn’t typically get with other microcontrollers. If that sounds weird to you, it’s because it is. I had to have a complete mindset change when debugging because of how absurdly fast it is.

The Teensy 4.0 is the same size and footprint as the Teensy 3.1/LC but even more powerful with its whopping 600MHz clock speed! The pin functionality is slightly different compared to the other versions. This runs off of the NXP iMXRT1062 IC, which is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7.

Teensy-LC has RTC logic on-chip, but lacks the 32.786 kHz crystal oscillator & VBAT battery backup power pin. An internal oscillator can be used but the accuracy is poor. This table shows zero, to give you an honest summary of the hardware's real capability.

Teensy® LC
Teensy LC has a voltage regulator built in to the main microcontroller, which reduces the 5V VUSB / VIN power to 3.3V for use by the main processor and most other parts. Additional circuitry may be powered from the 3.3V pin. The recommended maximum for external 3.3V usage is 100mA.

Not sure how, but the Teensy in my Sweet Sixteen seems to be fried. Seems these are now very difficult to come by.
If anyone has a space they are willing to sell, I would be very grateful.

You might find a Teensy 4.0 will work - it has the same footprint and similar pinout and functionality (but no DAC). If it's this Sweet Sixteen , study the pinout and compare to the functions used for each pin to the Teensy 4.0 pinout - it might turn out to be a drop in replacement.
