I've been sleeping on a base model purple for the last 3 years and it's been ok. It already seems to have a lower spot on one side though. I loved it the 1st few months but now it doesn't seem to cradle as well as it did and I will get some lower back ache. (I have a bulged disc that flairs up sometimes)
Long story short. I'm in the middle if a break up and she is taking the mattress so she doesn't have to buy anything new.
That leaves me looking for a new queen size mattress.
I am eyeballing a tempurpedic. I like the way a soft cradles but am afraid it might get a soft spot like the purple did or other cheap ones I've had in the past. With the cost of it that would suck.
To get the soft mattress you can't go with their cheaper base model. It's the proadopt version which is 2700 compared to purple at 1100.
Has anyone compared the 2 personally ?
Trying to take advantage of the memorial day sale.

Here's the bad news. Purple has huge durability issues, and tempur has switched to a cheaper foam apparently. The good news with Tempur is that their warranty is pretty much the best out there, but their support foam is a lower density than you'd want for good longevity. The new cheaper foam process is also not a great development. You can always look at building a DIY bed if you have the budget and the patience. The mattress underground has a list of good suppliers and tons of good discussion on where to start.

I am not familiar with Purple personally, I am with Tempur. The principal behind Purple is sound. The company I wor for uses the same core technology and it is durable (if the mattress is rotated regularly) I do not know what other layers go into a purple. I am dubious about the cooling claims (I am of every cooling tech) but have seen more than a few positive comments on here about that. I know Tempur well. I have sold them in the retail space, I used one for a couple of years. My parents have been using one I gave them for around 14 years. The quality is undeniable. They are the best mattress I have had dealings with. They feel very different. Some people love the feel, some cannot abide it. They do sleep warm, some models have 'cooling' elements but in my opinion the benefit is limited. Medically they are excellent for pressure relief and posture. They really help with many joint issues including arthritis. They are very expensive and difficult to transport or store for any length of time. I would never ship a mattress anywhere after purchase. Go to a store and spend 20 minutes lying on a Tempur, see how they feel. Personally I love them but they are definitely not for everyone. More on reddit.com
