r/Mattress on Reddit: Any long-term Costco Tempurpedic Supreme owners here? Tried Casper and Avacado...
December 3, 2024 -

For context... I'm 6'0, 190lbs and have some si joint and lower back issues. I now know that I need a firm mattress for my back issues. I looked into building another DIY latex but I'm definitely not finding the $250 3" slabs that I used 8 years ago.

For the past 8 years, I've slept on a DIY Dunlop 12" latex mattress consisting of a 6" extra firm base, 3" firm, and 3" medium layers. It's now time to purchase a new mattress as one of the latex layers has separated/tore and in general feel that it's time to replace as a whole.

I've tried a Casper Wave Hybrid Snow and Avocado Green (firm or non-pillow top) mattress as a replacement but didn't get along with either. The Casper feels nice/plush when initially laying down for 5 minutes but after that, I sink in way too much and get lower back pain every morning as it is really really soft. The Avacado didn't feel as "premium or luxurious" as the Casper Wave but back pain was much less. However, the top comfort layer of latex is so thin, that I could literally feel the coils under my heaviest points when sleeping. They tried sending a 2" topper to use with it but it didn't help much. The zoning of the coils I didn't really like either. I also don't like the thick foam border that the Casper adds for edge stability as it causes me to roll towards the middle when you sleep close to the edge.

All that being said, I am tempted by the Tempurpedic Supreme Firm (all foam) at Costco. It's priced at $2200 and includes a $300 Costco gift card effectively making it $1,900. As with everything in life there are mixed reviews all over the internet for the Costco exclusive "Supreme" model.

It appears to be a mix of the Tempurpedic Adapt and ProAdapt models.

How are the quality of materials, durability long-term of the Supreme and also when compared to the Adapt and ProAdapt models solid officially by Tempurpedic?

UPDATE: My Supreme medium was delivered a week earlier than expected and I've had it for two nights now. When you slap or smack the mattress with your hand, it has a very very firm/hard feel and the first night I thought that I actually slept well. The second night wasn't great. When I first lay down in a side position, my lower back and hips feel supported with some pressure on my shoulder. Then as time goes on, the hips continually sink-in as body heat warms up the foam and in the morning I had lower back pain. I took pictures laying on the mattress in a side sleeping position. The picture that was taken in 15 seconds shows a straight/aligned spine, no issues. Pictures taken after laying for 30 minutes shows the hips sinking in and an upwards curve of the spine similar to my old latex bed that became too soft over time. Don't know if I should try the firm Tempurpedic Supreme or move onto a different mattress altogether that has a zoned support system. Tempurpedic has the LuxeAdapt series which has a 5 zoned system but is way out of my budget. Looking at Costco, I see a new Novaform Legacy Premier ($1,200 king) that has a zoned support layer which is firmer in the middle which should in theory help with my problem but I think that's a cheaper or less durable brand 🙄

Being that you’re a heavier person, I would say the Supreme Firm should work just fine for you, as it not only will it offer the firm support you need while not too firm as tempur reliefs pressure points pretty well. The Supreme Firm is more like the Tempurpedic Adapt then the ProAdapt, what I don’t like about the Supreme Firm is that it uses Tempur ES as it’s transition layer, which doesn’t makes sense to me, however the top layer if very firm initially when you lay on the bed. So it’s not gonna be as firm as the ProAdapt but a little firmer the Adapt medium, so in between the two. This however might be a pro to you depending if you don’t like how firm the ProAdapt firm is. I would give it a try, I have the Tempurpedic Supreme Medium Hybrid, that mattress is basically the same as the adapt medium hybrid just with a cheaper cover I guess, the bed works well for me, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed going with Tempurpedic.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Tempur-Pedic Supreme Mattress at Costco
January 26, 2024 -

Costco has recently introduced a new range of Tempur-Pedic mattresses called 'Supreme.' I was aware that their previous line was called 'Cloud Supreme.' I'm curious to know if this new line is just a rebranding of the same mattress or if it's Costco's version aimed at matching the Tempur-Adapt. Thoughts?

So grateful for this sub. Mattress shopping might be the death of me but these comments have been very helpful. I have an OG tempur from 2004. Best purchase I ever made and I'm only shopping because we want to get a king. In an out of the Tempur flagship store trying to find a similar feel to the OG (almost impossible given the changes and "upgrades" to the lines...) also, i had such a miserable time w/ the sales associate at the store that i actually was forced back to Mattress Firm where I bought my tempur 20 years ago. The sales guy at MF was amazing and I was happy to give him my business. I had planned to get the Pro Adapt or Adapt FIRM bc the tempur online chat bot told me that would be most similar to the OG bed. Well, at the last SECOND I decided to go for the Pro Adapt MEDIUM, thinking i'm 20 years older now and maybe the extra squish would be worth it on my older bones... Big mistake. We are about 7 weeks in and I have all kinds of neck back and shoulder pain that I never had before. I think its just too soft for me. I slept last night on the old bed that is now in our guest room. I don't consider myself a picky sleeper. We are military so I am used to sleeping on an air mattress for weeks at a time in between moves. But this Pro Adapt Medium is killing me! I think my plan is to order the supreme FIRM from costco, return the Pro Adapt Medium to MF, and hopefully pocket the $2k savings. This thread helped me make that decision. Thanks al for your input. I'll update as the journey continues. Please post your follow up reviews for everyone that is getting started with your supreme firm!!

My Costco Tempur Supreme medium hybrid arrived this morning. I had an original Tempur since 2006 and it held up until several months ago.  I went to many stores and laid on all types of mattresses. The Tempurpedic I wanted from one of their flagship stores was too expensive.  $6000 plus is too much for me.  I prefer a firmer mattress so I tried the proadapt firm but it was way too hard . I had pain after laying on it for 15 minutes. I'm 5'7 around 145 lbs.  This bed feels very comfortable. Setup was great and the old bed was removed. Been a Costco member for years, and their return policy gave me the confidence to buy a bed I wasn't able to try. This thread was also helpful to my search.

If so, how often or what time of year? Thanks!

January 2, 2025 - They will feel like different beds because the ProAdapt uses high-density APR material and the Costco one doesn't. You get a risk free trial with the Costco one, so if it doesn't work out you could still get the ProAdapt on sale over the 4th or Labor Day. ... We just bought the supreme hybrid in a king and it is phenomenal. Definitely leans more medium firm. On a scale of 1-10 in firmness I would probably say it is a 6.5. I am coming from a Purple 2 Hybrid and I would say that bed is more firm than the Tempurpedic

February 22, 2013 - Costco's reviews say theirs is on the firmer side. The problem is the Tempurpedic Ergo and Tyndall Pedic run around $7,000. Costco has theirs on sale for just over $2,000 right now. That is a huge difference. But is the quality that much less?
