From what I understand the Snow max uses lower density 2.5pcf memory foam, then has a couple of what are imo gimmicky cooling features such as graphite infused foam and phase change materials. It is a hybrid though and has air channels through the foam to allow heat to dissipate, so it still might not sleep especially hot. Then the Tempur adapt is their entry level mattress. It will have a polyfoam core instead of pocketed coils(unless you mean the adapt hybrid) and the memory foam Tempur uses will be a bit denser and higher quality. Especially once you start looking at their pro and luxe line of mattresses. I feel like Tempur overcharges quite a bit for what you are getting, but at least with them you know you're getting decent materials. The casper snow is also pretty expensive for what you are getting as well I would say. One downside to the all foam Tempur is it will likely build up heat much more than the Casper snow hybrid would. I would trust the durability of the Tempur more though. Another option Id like to throw out there, there is a company called Tempflow who makes mattresses to compete with TempurPedic. What I like about them is they are transparent about the materials in their mattresses, you know you will be getting nice high density foams and that they havent been decreasing the quality over the years like so many others have. What I dislike is the lack of feedback. This is a company that has been around for like 20 years and there is very little customer feedback online. You can find a few mentions on Reddit, a little bit more on The mattress underground, but thats really about it. Another option which I think is a great deal for the price, If you have an Original mattress Factory by where you live they sell the Serenity and Serenity Plush . This mattress has a super dense memory foam comfort layer, much more so than modern Tempur's even. 2" of 8lb memory foam, then 3" of 5lb memory foam, and a 2.25lb polyurethane foam base. imo if want to go Tempur Adapt and dont want their higher end mattresses. Look at the Costco models . With these you get Costco's return policy, which is basically they will take it back no questions asked, no return fees, no exchange only policy or sleep trials. r/Mattress on Reddit: Any long-term Costco Tempurpedic Supreme owners here? Tried Casper and Avacado...
December 3, 2024 -

For context... I'm 6'0, 190lbs and have some si joint and lower back issues. I now know that I need a firm mattress for my back issues. I looked into building another DIY latex but I'm definitely not finding the $250 3" slabs that I used 8 years ago.

For the past 8 years, I've slept on a DIY Dunlop 12" latex mattress consisting of a 6" extra firm base, 3" firm, and 3" medium layers. It's now time to purchase a new mattress as one of the latex layers has separated/tore and in general feel that it's time to replace as a whole.

I've tried a Casper Wave Hybrid Snow and Avocado Green (firm or non-pillow top) mattress as a replacement but didn't get along with either. The Casper feels nice/plush when initially laying down for 5 minutes but after that, I sink in way too much and get lower back pain every morning as it is really really soft. The Avacado didn't feel as "premium or luxurious" as the Casper Wave but back pain was much less. However, the top comfort layer of latex is so thin, that I could literally feel the coils under my heaviest points when sleeping. They tried sending a 2" topper to use with it but it didn't help much. The zoning of the coils I didn't really like either. I also don't like the thick foam border that the Casper adds for edge stability as it causes me to roll towards the middle when you sleep close to the edge.

All that being said, I am tempted by the Tempurpedic Supreme Firm (all foam) at Costco. It's priced at $2200 and includes a $300 Costco gift card effectively making it $1,900. As with everything in life there are mixed reviews all over the internet for the Costco exclusive "Supreme" model.

It appears to be a mix of the Tempurpedic Adapt and ProAdapt models.

How are the quality of materials, durability long-term of the Supreme and also when compared to the Adapt and ProAdapt models solid officially by Tempurpedic?

UPDATE: My Supreme medium was delivered a week earlier than expected and I've had it for two nights now. When you slap or smack the mattress with your hand, it has a very very firm/hard feel and the first night I thought that I actually slept well. The second night wasn't great. When I first lay down in a side position, my lower back and hips feel supported with some pressure on my shoulder. Then as time goes on, the hips continually sink-in as body heat warms up the foam and in the morning I had lower back pain. I took pictures laying on the mattress in a side sleeping position. The picture that was taken in 15 seconds shows a straight/aligned spine, no issues. Pictures taken after laying for 30 minutes shows the hips sinking in and an upwards curve of the spine similar to my old latex bed that became too soft over time. Don't know if I should try the firm Tempurpedic Supreme or move onto a different mattress altogether that has a zoned support system. Tempurpedic has the LuxeAdapt series which has a 5 zoned system but is way out of my budget. Looking at Costco, I see a new Novaform Legacy Premier ($1,200 king) that has a zoned support layer which is firmer in the middle which should in theory help with my problem but I think that's a cheaper or less durable brand 🙄

Being that you’re a heavier person, I would say the Supreme Firm should work just fine for you, as it not only will it offer the firm support you need while not too firm as tempur reliefs pressure points pretty well. The Supreme Firm is more like the Tempurpedic Adapt then the ProAdapt, what I don’t like about the Supreme Firm is that it uses Tempur ES as it’s transition layer, which doesn’t makes sense to me, however the top layer if very firm initially when you lay on the bed. So it’s not gonna be as firm as the ProAdapt but a little firmer the Adapt medium, so in between the two. This however might be a pro to you depending if you don’t like how firm the ProAdapt firm is. I would give it a try, I have the Tempurpedic Supreme Medium Hybrid, that mattress is basically the same as the adapt medium hybrid just with a cheaper cover I guess, the bed works well for me, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed going with Tempurpedic.

I would not recommend Casper. They are overpriced and use cheap materials.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Tempur-pedic vs casper wave, puffy lux, nectar lush
September 10, 2019 -

Okay so I am SO tired mentally from spending hours reading/watching youtube videos on mattresses and physically from my damn hips and shoulders from this p.o.s. I am sleeping on. The extreme biased reviews on the internet make this decision difficult. I am trying to avoid with the common complaint of returning an online mattress. It sounds like a complete nightmare for every company. First of all, the tempur-pedic pro adapt or luxe adapt "soft" is my ideal mattress, I've seen apparent liquidators on the Facebook market place selling for a half of the cost but I don't know if I trust it. I just love that contouring/sinking in feeling. For whatever reason, it seems like I am the only one that likes that. Most of the reviews I see say "don't worry this mattress won't feel like you're sinking in. I don't want to feel like I'm on top of the mattress. Nonetheless, aside from already trying a tempur-pedic on since they are on display everywhere, I have also tried the nectar lush (mattress one has them on display now). I am curious on other's opinions on the casper wave. I have tried the original and it was way too firm. Everywhere I read however says the wave is extremely "soft." I feel like thats such a broad term. Furthermore, if there was anyone who had a puffy lux experience as well, I can't seem to find much on that mattress at all. Any input/recommendations would be appreciated. This is what I have it down to so far. Just hope I can get a response lol.

Update: bought the puffy lux. After a week I’m just getting non stop back pain. I’m 29 so not some old man complaining here. Don’t understand the reviews of soft, contouring, etc. online. This thing feels like a brick. Nonetheless puffy was offering a complimentary mattress topper, but I think I’m going to go with the lush, having tried a floor model that was new and not broken in and it was significantly softer.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Soft Tempurpedic vs Casper + soft topper
November 20, 2024 -

I stayed at an Airbnb with a super comfortable bed last week. Unfortunately this threw me down the rabbit hole of choosing a mattress.

I’m debating between 2 options. One is to recreate what the Airbnb had- a medium/ firm mattress, with a 3 inch topper on top. The other is a to get a Tempurpedic LuxeBreeze soft (my favorite from testing multiple out, I’m a 190 pound side sleeper)

The financially smart side of me is saying to get the Casper + topper (~1k from Costco and a SOL 3 inch topper) instead of the LuxeBreeze that I liked a little more but not a ton more (-5-6k), especially since I know I liked actually sleeping a full night on the first option. But it was only 2 nights, and I’m worried that I may be missing something (longevity, maybe the LuxeBreeze gets better over time and Casper gets worse, etc)?

I know I’m biased because I work for Tempur-Pedic now, but I also use to work for Casper, Sleep Number and Sears mattresses where I sold all the brands. Tempur-Pedic has been the only mattress that I’ve actually liked. I had the Sealy Optimum Memory Foam which I realized I ordered too firm of a mattress. The next was the Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme in 2011 which would be my favorite mattress for years. I worked at Sleep Number in 2019 I was convinced by my coworkers that I would love the i8 and how much better it would be. So I bought it right when COVID happened because I knew my store would never reopen again and I had a one time 80% off employee discount code I could use. I ordered the i8 and immediately hated it. I gave it a fair shot for about two months but it always felt like an air mattress and it was so much harder to move around in. Ended up selling it to my parents for their guest room for what I paid for the bed. I worked at Casper in 2021-24 and won a free Wave Hybrid Snow. It replaced my Tempur because it was a lot more cooling. However, about a year and a half later I started to notice that when I used the adjustable base my mattress felt like it kept scooting down more. Like, when I put the base flat it would leave a huge gap between the headboard and mattress. One day I checked, and there was a huge indentation on the front of the bed. Casper had to warranty their highest end bed because it wasn’t “adjustable base” friendly. I was also using Casper’s own Adjustable Base Max. Like clockwork, a year and a half later it was doing the same thing. By that time, I was working at Tempur and decided I no longer trusted Casper’s quality any more. Their $4,000+ bed can’t last more than two years with their own adjustable base. I ended up getting a LuxeBreeze Soft and ProSmart Base (kind of wish I went Ergo Smart) and I couldn’t be happier. It’s cooler than my Casper, it’s softer, and it has that Tempur feel that I forgot how much I actually loved. So if you’re looking at the Breeze, get it. Don’t get the Casper. I would recommend a Sealy Hybrid if you want something more affordable.

Hey y'all, it's just like the title says. Which is more durable? Which bed will last longer before it starts to lose support & change shape? I'd like to find the right bed and not need to buy a new one every year.

Specifically, the Tempur Pedic LuxeBreeze in soft VS the Snow Max in medium soft.

If you think neither, what do suggest for a side sleeper 195lbs, 6ft?

I have a long history with mattresses, and I think it’s worth sharing why I’m so enthusiastic about Tempur-Pedic. I started working in the mattress industry back in high school at Sears, moved to Sleep Number, then Casper, and now I’m at Tempur-Pedic. My first major purchase was a Tempur-Cloud Supreme from Sears, and it was an exceptional mattress that I truly loved. When I moved to Sleep Number, I didn’t see a reason to upgrade until 2020 when my store was closing. I used my one-time 75% employee discount to get an i8 mattress, but I regretted it immediately. It felt more like an air mattress with a foam topper than a quality sleep surface. Later, while at Casper, I participated in a contest where the prize was a mattress of your choice. I was determined to win the Wave Hybrid Snow, so I pushed hard to sell as much as I could, totaling over $200,000 in sales. Despite my efforts, I didn’t win, but Casper did give me the mattress I wanted as a consolation prize. I paired it with their Adjustable Base Max, but experienced issues with the poor edge support. Whenever I used the adjustable base, there would be a huge gap between the headboard and mattress because the edge support would cave inwards. I would have to push the mattress back into place. One day when changing the sheets, I saw that it left a huge indentation. I could literally grab the top comfort layers of foam with my hands. It was BAD! After some back-and-forth with Casper’s warranty process, because they at first didn’t want to replace a mattress that was “free”. But they did replace it, but the replacement also lost support after a year, leading to back pain. I knew after my years in the mattress industry that this wouldn’t be considered a warranty issue, because it wasn’t a viable divot in the mattress, it just felt like I was sleeping in one. When my Casper store eventually closed, I joined Tempur-Pedic, took advantage of my employee discount, and bought the LuxeBreeze Soft and ProSmart Base. Since then, I’ve had a fantastic experience with Tempur-Pedic—no warranty issues, and I’ve slept better than ever. Based on my experiences, I’d recommend Tempur-Pedic for its durability and quality. It just hugs me better, I don’t feel any pressure, and I don’t wake up in the early morning in pain.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Best Costco Mattress? Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress vs Casper Cooling Select Hybrid
November 22, 2024 -

Hi everyone,

I am currently mattress shopping and could really use some expert guidance.

I tried some mattresses at mattress firm, and loved the tempurpedic adapt, but it’s just too expensive.

I want to get something through costco, and ended up between the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress and the Casper Cooling Select Hybrid.

I’m 6’2 and have scoliosis so i need something medium firm to support my spine

Does anyone have any recommendations? Open to other costco suggestions too

Hi all—I am looking for a new pillow! I currently have a down one from Brooklinen but it is not supportive at all for me. I've had pretty bad cervical neck pain. I did an MRI and found out I have mild arthritis in my neck. I know a pillow won't solve my pain but hopefully it can at least help!? I've settled on these two pillows and was wondering what you all thought?

I sleep mostly on my side and back. I am also on the smaller side so am not looking for anything with super high loft. Any help would be great! Looking to hear if anyone has any experiences with these pillows or which one they would recommend for me.
