Hey r/Terraria! So I just beat Plantera using a Mage Build (it took quite a while if I may add) I used full Hallowed Armor, Magic Harp, Laser Rifle, Golden Shower, and Magic Dagger. I'm going to try to go for Spectre Armor after making a Chloro Farm, but now that I have access to the harder dungeon, I was wondering what sort of weapons I should be using before I take on Fishron and Golem. Also changes to my current weapon build are appreciated as well! Thanks in advance!
TD;DR - What are the best Mage Weapons post Plantera for PvE?
I see a lot of magic weapons, but anything I try with them doesn't even come close in dps to a basic flamethrower. I'm assuming I'm just bad at using them. Can you show me how to mage?
So i beat plantera with mainly mage weapons but idk what to do after her. i am working towards spectre armor but its taking a little while (i have a chlorophyte farm but i had used nearly all the chlorophyte from the jungle for stupid stuff i didnt need not thinking) so i know about armor what to do but idk about accesories or weapons after her. can someone please help me it would be greaatly appreciated!
My friend is having trouble and I suggested a healing-based build, anyone got a good set of accessories and weapons to max the healing?
I'm doing a mage/tank playthrough with my friend and i want to know what i should go for to beat plantera.
Right now im running the wizard's hat, emerald robes, and space leggings. Any tips? Btw this is ps3 so no 1.2.4 items pls.
Specifically the second phase, first part is easy enough with a hex doll.
I've lost 3 times, all during the second phase, since plantera gets coated with little meat (plant?) shield tentacles and magic doesn't seem to have either the range nor the damage to punch through and actually touch the main bulb.
What has failed so far:
-trying hex doll for both phases, resulted in me getting destroyed by the tentacles if I tried to get close to do damage
-trying hex doll first phase and venom staff second, the staff does embarrasingly low damage, and plantera tore me apart before I had done even 1k damage in the second phase
-trying hex doll 1st and a tunnel with teleporters on both ends and a magical harp to do ranged damage. I'm not 100% sure how this one failed since the teleporters made me a bit disoriented, but I think it was because harp doesn't do much damage and plantera somehow managed to reach both ends of the tunnel at the same time, so I couldn't run. I was too scared of making the tunnel longer since plantera could despawn
I trashed expert plantera before with a shotbow and holy arrows, what am I doing wrong this time around? Is magic just much weaker than I thought?
I know this has been asked before and I'm sorry, but any advice I've looked up has been useless so far. I can't practice the fight since the bulbs are so rare and carving out arenas around the bulbs is such a pain in the ass
edit: just lost to plantera the 4th fucking time. tried to use a much larger arena than any of the ones I've had before, large enough that the middle counted as caverns since it was so far from any jungle. Plantera still killed me because there's too many fucking tentacles. tried using the minecart strategy but couldn't wire the junctions properly.
-died a 5th time, just a practice round to get more familiar with plantera's attacks. got to 2nd phase and died about ten seconds in because of the giant web of tentacles that spawn everywhere. impossible to run
-6th death, tried using minecart but tentacles again reach so far that nowhere was safe. plantera couldn't keep up this time though so that seems like progress
-7th attempt was successful, but just barely-i had about 30 health several times during the fight. I ended up using the shadowflame hex doll 1st and the venom staff second, no special strategy like minecart or nurse house or anything. potion buffs included the holy trinity, the magic buffs and wrath/endurance. accessories were worm scarf, lightining boots, leaf wings, magic flower, shield of cthulu, and ankh shield, although they didn't seem too useful-if you're good at dodging you can likely change around some of them to what you want. not sure why this time it worked when the same strat failed earlier - if i had to guess, it was because of my familiarity with plantera's attacks that let me dodge them well enough and a wide enough arena allowed me to run decently. the fight still came down to the wire and may have just been a fluke, but at least its over.
