Can anyone recommend an open API for testing purposes?
Is that a unit test a.k.a how do you test your API endpoints?

What is API testing?
What is an example of API testing?
What is the relationship between API testing and API monitoring?
The title more or less, at the moment I am learning rest sharp, but I have not found a decent open API for writing tests, something that isn't too easy nor too difficult.
Preferably with some POST and GET methods, so I can write tests for getting data I posted.
Also if anyone can link me a example of how to develop a API testing framework, how to order namespaces any such :)
Thanks in advance.
The difference between unit, service, end-to-end, and integration tests is blurry and discussable.
Having said that, I am starting to question my understanding of API testing.
I have quite a standard web application that is exposed via RESTful endpoints. The logic under the hood of the usecases for the typical GET/PUT/POST requests is, however, rather complex.
Previously, I used httptest to make sure all my middleware works correctly and found that very convenient.
Ideally, I would like to be sure that all the endpoints work correctly, correct objects get created with valid states, etc.
As far as I know from the standard definitions, integration testing has nothing to do with object state checking and similar functional stuff. On the other hand, running the server locally and thus using a real (although local) database sort of contradicts what unit testing is.
I am a bit confused, what is the preferred way to test your API endpoints? Mocking a database is also a theoretical option, but mocking everything (and my repositories unfortunately got too large to be neatly mocked) would be very tiresome.
