Driving record form 3A
First, the court clerk of the court that is handling your ticket should have given you very direct instructions that you’re expected to follow to the T. Do that. Read those instructions over and over until you understand them. Don’t read into them. Don’t think too hard. Read each sentence and do what it says. Second, you’re typically required to prove that you haven’t taken defensive driving in relation to any other ticket in the past year. The reason for this is that you’re allowed to request one mandatory deferred adjudication per year - meaning the court is required to grant you leave to take a defensive driving course once per year to satisfy one ticket. If you get a second ticket, you can ask for a discretionary deferred adjudication, but it’s at the judge’s discretion. They need the info on that form to inform their judgement about you getting a second deferred adjudication. So the fact that you have a report showing no previous instances of a course is reasonable and good. You give that to the clerk. Then they’ll approve you to take the defensive driving course. Then you submit all that and they will grant you the deferred adjudication. But, again, read the information from the clerk very carefully. That is what you’re expected to do. If you cannot somehow figure out how to do exactly what is written, you should just pay the ticket and move on with your life. Not trying to be mean - but that is how they are going to treat you. They’re not going to hold your hand. Just follow the steps and you’ll be fine. More on reddit.com

Taking a driver safety course to deal with a speeding ticket. Do I need to pay for the driving record, too?
Just went through this a few months ago. Yes you can just pay $10 plus a $2 filing fee to the DPS for your driving record. The $45 you pay to the DD school for the course and record includes their own filing fee, so you can possibly save a few bucks if you do it yourself. I just paid them for eveything because I'm lazy and wanted it all to be over with as quickly as possible. Upon completion the school will send you two copies of your completion certificate and a copy of your driving record. One copy is for the court and the other is for your insurance company. Bring your record and cert to court and they'll dismiss the ticket. Here's the instructions from the online course I took. Go to texas.gov Under the TOP SERVICES, click where it says Driver Records and fill out the form. (For ticket dismissal purposes, you’ll need TYPE 3A.) Pay $12 online and print the record for yourself before you log out. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. More on reddit.com

Hey all,

Just got my first ticket and not familiar with the process. I was told I needed to submit two forms (a TDLR approved Driver’s Safety Course certificate and a certified copy of my Driving Record), and I figured the second one would be quicker and easier to get out of the way. I just paid for it off Texas.gov and noticed that the record says "No report of approved driver education course".

I know that you're not allowed to do defensive driving if you've done it previously in the last x months; is this all that this is indicating? Or was I supposed to have ordered the driving record after completing the course? TIA

r/DMV on Reddit: How Can I Access My Driving Record Without an SSN? (Valid Driver’s License)
September 11, 2024 -

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to access my driving record in Texas, but I’ve run into an issue. I don’t have a Social Security Number (SSN), but I do have a valid, unexpired Texas driver’s license. I’ve tried requesting it online, but the system requires an SSN to proceed.

Has anyone else dealt with this situation or know of any alternative ways to request a driving record without an SSN? Are there any offices I could visit in person to get it, or other methods I should try?

I got a speeding ticket and need it for dismissal do you know how to get it does insurance have access to it.
