Any job that offers TN is going to be a higher paying job with pretty good or great health insurance. The quality of care and ease of access down here is just mind blowing (if you can afford it / have insurance). The horror stories you hear are definitely real, but they’re definitely not happening to the top 30% income earners. These horror stories are from people that are underinsured either because they can’t afford it or they lost their job. If you lose your job on TN you have to go home anyway. I actually dread having to go back to the Canadian system. The healthcare here is definitely what I’ll miss the most when I eventually move back. More on reddit.com

Your father’s plan was pretty good - maybe great - those co-pays aren’t bad compared to deductibles. You’re in for a 5-10k shock each year or less if you are lucky. Sadly you’re in a state that chose not to expand Medicaid leaving you high and dry - if you earned more your premium might actually be less. Vote for change in your state to change that rule but that’s a long term thing. I have no great advice other than your school insurance might be the best in your scenario. If someone offers a non-ACA compliant plan be aware that you are throwing money out of the window if you take it for usually very poor plans - be careful of those plans.
