It's a great show! But as you progress, you see both characters are polar opposites haha. Still, it's really good and Nick's character is really conflicted and interesting. As someone else already said, a lot of people hate him (I like him a lot tbh) and I think that adds more to the show, no one is completely good nor evil, they are just people. More on reddit.com

I loved that show and hope you enjoy it…(no spoilers here!) I’ve yet to find a place to discuss this short lived series but I have to say I love the Nick character.

August 27, 2021Anyone else finish The Mentalist and decide to try The Guardian simply for another Simon Baker fix?
I didn't watch them back to back but I have binged the Guardian. I enjoyed it. One thing I liked about it was that every character is flawed, which lends a bit or realism to the drama. At points you root for characters and other times they really piss you off. The story doesn't have heros so much as it has a bunch of people dealing with what life thtows at them, sometimes well and sometimes not so well. I definitely recommend sticking with it. February 15, 2021Just finished "The Guardians" (1971) for the first time
Sounds interesting. Where did you source it? I like the old 70s TV shows as well, ones I remember being on, but never actually watched or understood. The Onedin Line is one that I used to hate, especially the music, as it signified Sunday night and school the next day. Recently re-discovered it though and it’s actually very good. And I don’t have to worry about Monday mornings anymore. More on reddit.com

Just watched the first episode of The Guardian on Paramount+ and WOW. Simon Baker is great, I can totally see Jane’s brilliance and smooth-talking in this character too.

It's a great show! But as you progress, you see both characters are polar opposites haha. Still, it's really good and Nick's character is really conflicted and interesting. So this show is worth watching? I've heard about it and wanted to check it out just because of Simon 😁 I've been going through his filmography and want to watch other things he's been in.

I searched the subreddit history and saw quite a few people started The Guardian after (or before!) The Mentalist. I wanted to read them but don't want to run into any unexpected spoilers 😂. Will let you know how it goes!
Only ~15 minutes in and my god does he have a baby face! Also, he 'sight reads'* the social worker and I saw a hint of Patrick Jane for a moment...
(* I forget what this is called? But basically you look at someone and sum them up from that glance. He comments on how she dresses 'poor' and does it on purpose so the world will look at her and know she's choosing her job not for the money)

Simon Baker is a chameleon. He looks like the character he's playing. Check out his movies: Not Forgotten is eerie. Something New, is a racial romance. Breath is Simon surfing. Sex and Death 101 is very funny. High Ground is unsetting and many more films, all different. Simon goes from creepy to romantic hero, to funny, to historical Aussie, to a best selling book that Simon adapted to screen. It's about an older guy teaching two teens to surf. Well check out portfolio of "you can't typecast this brilliant actor, director, writer." And he's different in The Mentalist, which I love ❤️ 😍 💖
