The season finale reveals what really happened to Veronica's family and her true past and something surprising about the plateau.

March 25, 2012 - The series has added the characters of Marguerite and Veronica, there were no women on the expedition in Doyles’ book. Michael Sinelnikoff played Professor Summerlee in two different versions of The Lost World. Besides playing Challenger’s foil in the first season of the series, he also played opposite Patrick Bergin’s Challenger in the terrible 1998 direct-to-video film version.

He wanted me to play Veronica as a young, naïve little jungle girl, and that just didn’t work. My character is much stronger than that. I mean, this is somebody who has grown up in the jungle and taught herself how to survive. To be honest, I don’t like mentioning the pilot. I’d rather skip right to the first season where I was able to begin making some changes to my character.

Shortly after the Great War a group of explorers led by Professor George Challenger travel to South America, where a 'lost world' populated by dinosaurs is rumoured to exist. After the destruction of their hot air balloon they are stranded on top of a plateau, but are befriended by a wild jungle girl called Veronica Layton, who has lived alone in a treehouse there since her parents disappeared 11 years earlier.
