Code Generation issue in STM32 Cube IDE
The selection cannot be launched, and there are no recent launches
"Selection cannot be launched and there are no recent launches” when Eclipse for Android Project Dev - Stack Overflow
How to program STM32 with just plain GCC?
A few days ago, the code generation worked properly. But now, when I try to create a new project, it gives this error saying, "Code generation could not be done most probably because the necessary firmware package is missing". If I ignore this message and try to generate the code after project creation, some code does get created, but when I try running/debugging the code, I get the error "The selection cannot be launched, and there are no recent launches".
I tried reinstalling the firmware for my dev board from the "embedded firmware package manager", tried reinstalling the ide itself, but the issue persists.
I am using the "STM32 B-L072Z-LRWAN1" discovery dev board which has the "STM32L072CZY6TR" microcontroller.
Everything was working perfectly fine until randomly this issue started.
PLEASE HELP!
Edit: nvm, I am using stm32cubemx now, it works perfectly fine!
I have been searching everywhere for help on this error, but I cannot figure out how to resolve this issue. From what I've seen on Stack Overflow, I am supposed to click on the Run Configurations link on the drop down menu, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do once I reach that menu.
I am running Eclipse Juno SR 2
I had a similar problem. To fix the issue go to Run-> Run Configurations...
- If there isn't create a new run configuration (top left)
- Under Android tab: browse and select the project you want to run
- Under Target tab: select Always prompt to pick device (or) you can pick automatic launch.
Similar solution can be applied to the Debug by going to Run-> Debug Configurations...
Update:
I realize this is beyond the scope of the question but if any new developers are coming to answer then I would suggest switching to Android Studio from Eclipse. AS is the official Google supported IDE for Android development and much nicer to use.
In the Package Explorer (the left column), right-click on the name of the project (the top item). In the menu that appears, select "Run as"; then choose "Android Application".
I got an STM32F411 "discovery kit", and I've spent the last 2 days reading the poorly written and inconsistent instructions on the STM website to install CubeIDE, CubeMX, CubeProgrammer, download the demos, ... and in the end the demos don't even compile. ("The selection cannot be launched, and there are no recent launches")
Can I somehow just skip this nonsense and just write code in VS Studio Code + GCC like I did for ESP32 and Raspberry Pico. I'm generally not very concerned about real-time debugging; I can effectively debug by logging data.
Can someone please give me a push in the right direction: How do I get a "Hello world" up and running on this STM32 board without any of these silly IDEs?
