So I just wanna specify that I haven’t read the books prior to watching the show, but I have played the third game up to a certain point (not really made progress though). But that doesn’t matter. In short: I haven’t played the games really either.
I want to watch the show first before I do anything Witcher related remotely. This is because I hear the show is an adaption of the books, and takes place right before the games. And what way to start the games if you haven’t known what’s happened previously?
Anyways, I have a couple of concerns and questions regarding episode 1.
• Who is Renfri and how does she know Geralt’s destiny with Ciri? It makes no sense. Also side note: pretty sure they never said Ciri’s name in episode one, or maybe I’m just deaf.
•What did Renfri do? The dream sequence? This too. What was that dream sequence? Did they actually kiss? Was it all a dream?
•Was Strogobor right or wrong? This pretty much. Was Renfri just tricking Gerald the ENTIRE time? Because Strogobor did say her mutation was luring people in and that it got Geralt too. Or was she the “good” guy in all of this? By that, I mean, was there really a “lesser evil” thing going on? I want to say that no, she is not evil and she is good, just because of the constant foreshadowing that, “Humans are no different than the monsters Geralt slays” shtick, but still.
•”Find Geralt of Rivea” How in the god damn fuck does the Grandma know who Geralt is?? And why would he be her “destiny”? It makes no sense. It seems as though both Renfri and the Grandma were just one big plot-device for Geralt and Ciri to find each other. Now listen, if this DOES get revealed in future episodes, then PLEASE don’t tell me. I just want clarification, not spoilers.
Other than that, that’s pretty much it. I loved the first episode, it was really good and intense. However, I’m just confused on a lot of things presented to me. So any clarification would be nice. Thanks.
