The Witcher season 4 episode 2 recap and review: "Dream of a Wish Fulfilled"
October 30, 2025 - Ultimately, what gives fake Ciri away is that Emhyr asks her to fight him, reasoning that the real Cirilla was trained by witchers so she should know her way around a sword. Fake Ciri does not, and no amount of acting can hide it. Emyhr places her under guard and demands Stefan Skellen bring him Vilgefortz. He also mentioned that there's a prophecy involving Cirilla that "won't work with an imposter." We need to find out more about that. We also see Istredd (Royce Pierreson) for the first time of season 4 in this episode.

I really have no clue what's going on this season and that's coming from someone who has read the books and audiobooks a few times. The rats aren't bandits? they are just ocean's eleven thieves and Ciri made them Robin Hood types? And I'm guessing they are planning to have Kaylee who apparently is now an explosives expert is going to try to turn her in for the bounty and ruining his family. Yen takes credit for starting the lodge instead now? Why do they keep taking credit away from other characters to have Yen being the one doing everything? First the conclave, now the lodge when she should be a bit sized statue in franchisa's pocket and not out doing stuff. What is even going on with the mages, there is a rogue mages plot now fighting against the good mages? I don't even know what's going on here. There is a portal network? Since when and somehow Istredd figured out how to shut down the portals? The trailer for Regis was terrible but honestly Fishbourne's Regis isn't as bad as I thought was going to be but what's up with the sniffing the bandage and evil Regis plotline it looks like they are setting up? I don't even know wtf is going on with these new Netflix plot things. At least the rest of the rats are somewhat likable in the show unlike the books where I hated them and was cheering when they got to hang out with Bonhart. Apparently there is only Zoltan and Percival? Where are the rest of the dwarves? I don't even want to get into the whole farmhouse scene or how almost everything is missing from Zoltan's crew that was likeable. Edit: Ffs they swapped Franchesa being the one packed into the statue by Yen instead of the other way around

This will probably be one of the very, very few times when I say something positive about the show but Fishbourne's Regis is legitimately much better than I expected.

December 17, 2021 - Sigmund Dijkstra makes his grand entrance in episode 4, declaring that Cintra is ripe for the taking from Nilfgaard. This is about to throw the war in a different direction and sets up what I assume will be even more conflict in Season 3 nicely.

December 18, 2021 - In perhaps the funniest scene of the episode, Jaskier uses his star power to manipulate a guard into letting him board a ship. There is some fourth-walling breaking as the guard tells the bard that he wasn’t a big fan of his last song.

REVIEW: The Witcher Season 2 Episode 4: Redanian Intelligence - Grimdark Magazine
February 17, 2025 - She learns the Sandpiper is helping elves escape by boat to Cintra, and goes to meet him and lo and behold, it is Jaskier. The beloved bard of the first season is still as acerbic towards her as ever, and justifiably so. Back in S1, Geralt blamed Jaskier for Yennefer leaving, and Jaskier’s reintroduction here has him singing a far harsher song than Toss a Coin To Your Witcher.

The Meaning Of Jaskier's Song In The Witcher Season 2 Episode 4 Explained - Looper
December 19, 2021 - From Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer's (Anya Chalotra) love theme, "Your Sweet Kiss," to Season 1's emotional end credit song, "Song of the White Wolf," "The Witcher" depends on its music. So much so, in fact, that it becomes part of the story itself. The character of Jaskier (Joey Batey) writes the song "Toss A Coin to Your Witcher" in early Season 1 as a way to rehabilitate Geralt's image after the incident in Blaviken.

Random thoughts 1 There is an unusually high amount of slow-paced scenes in e1 and e2. In general, I love when shows give their characters time to be mundane together. Unfortunately, slice of life isn't really this show's strong suit. Also, if we count the last episode of S3, Geralt'n'Friends have now had three meandering episodes, which I don't love in an 8-episode per season format. 2 Can't really say the rats are growing on me, yet. Neither the actors nor the script are particularly interesting to me. There's a fine line between the kind of 'authentic melodrama' that is the young adult experience and synthetic stock teen behavior. The Rats mostly fall on the latter side for me, except for their rituals. The silly ceremony at the end, chanting and all, was about the right amount of juvenile and vainglorious for me. 3 Magic battles look as goofy as ever, but at this point, I may have come to like them. I don't know, it's just such pulpy, round-based combat, and they're sticking with it. 4 Wait, that was kind of a good Emhyr scene? In my mind, it would have been cooler if Fake Ciri actually had had some proficiency with a sword, her being literally chosen for her role and whatnot. But if not, why did she even try to fight? Surely arguing that, "no, against Calanthe's wishes, it was actually Eist who forbade me from swordfighting," is the easier way out. She doesn't know about Emhyr's insider knowledge, right? 5 Oh okay, after Emhyr's new haircut, Vilgefortz had to one-up him with a new face. Typical. Overall, I find Fake Ciri's destinyhah currently most compelling. I'm anticipating a tragic end here, and soon, which makes me root for her even more.
