Kid - Definition, Meaning & Synonyms | Vocabulary.com
Sometimes the word kid means a kind of soft leather made from goat skin. When kid is used as a verb, it means to tease or jokingly deceive someone — to kid them. Some sticklers for formality object to using kid to mean "child," but that meaning has been around since the 1590s.

November 20, 2022 -
I initially thought it was the same as "child", but i've seen people using this word to refer to adults too. What being a kid actually means?
Also, i'm from Brasil.

The literal meaning is “child” or “underage person” but it can also mean “relatively young person”. So you could call even a person in their early 20s a “kid” if you wanted to emphasize their youth compared to a fully “mature” person. A parent may also use it to refer to their children even if they’re adults now.
