80 Safe Things To Do in Colorado This Winter
This is a cool list honestly and definitely nice for people that don't spend their winter skiing. These strike a good balance between engaging and COVID-safe (read: mostly outdoor, mask-mandated spaces).
Brace for the vocal 10% of this subreddit that still thinks it's incredibly dangerous to even leave the house though.
More on reddit.comHi all! My partner and I are staying in a cabin in Mancos (in the San Juans) mid-late December. A few questions:
1.) What are your favorite things to do in nearby towns around this time of year? So far we're planning on mostly staycationing in the cabin, dogsledding, a day trip to Ouray, and one to Telluride.
2.) We're driving down from Colorado Springs and I'm really nervous about the roads. We both have a lot of experience in difficult passes (I've driven Old Priest Grade by Yosemite more times than I can count, and driven up and down Pikes Peak like five times) but I'm not sure how heavily it'll be snowing or how fast locals will be taking the turns. Any insight?
TIA!
Hey y’all, I’m thinking of planning a week-long vacation beginning of December and I was wondering if you guys had some tips or insights for me. My first question is how cold is it in December? I’m planning on going to a small surrounding town near you guys, about 30-50 min drive away. I don’t want to stay cooped up the whole time so I was wondering if in December, everything is still open and it’s nice enough to enjoy things. I want to do some outings and activities while I’m down there but I don’t know if the cold affects lots of places of business.
My next question is if it’s really difficult to drive out there. I’ll be renting a 4x4 vehicle but since I come from a hot-all-year-round state, I’ve seldom driven in snowy terrain/roads. Since I’ll be in a smaller surrounding town, is it difficult to drive out there?
For some more clarification on things I want to do, I was thinking about going to museums, zoos (if there are any), and maybe some outdoor stuff like renting an atv or horseback riding, hiking/trekking, etc… is that feasible in December? Also, how warm should I expect to dress? Like ultimate layers thick jacket warm or just a couple of layers? I’ve never gone so any insight would be helpful, thanks in advance!
