35 Unique things to do in Denver Colorado from a Local
February 11, 2025 - Check out this epic Colorado road trip featuring mountains, dunes, and canyons · There are plenty of hotel choices in Denver, and I have included some of my favorites below. If you are looking for a unique place to stay for two days in Denver in a super location for all of these things to do, then check out the Flora House Bed & Breakfast.
Stanley Marketplace, Celestial Seasonings Factory tour (Boulder) or Hammond's Candy factory tour. I love to take friends to Wash Park and rent a surry bike together or do the swan boats (especially in the evening as the swan boats get lit up). Olde Town Arvada or downtown Morrison for lunch. Or downtown Littleton is cute and nearby, Chez Lizeth is an amazing creperie with a darling vibe (get an affogoto, they're amazing). El Taco de Mexico in the arts district on Santa Fe looks like and feels like a hole-in-the-wall, but it's authentic Mexican that has earned it a James Beard award and write ups in travel magazines such as Sunset. An easy Incline hike can be found near Denver at Mother Cabrini Shrine & Grotto. At the top, you can see most of Denver. Down to the southwest is Roxborough State Park with some beautiful rock formations and the Chatfield Botanic Gardens location. For the most amazing night time view of Denver, and some really excellent food, I recommend El Five in the Highlands. Do a candle making class at Rosy Rings, its so fun to sip wine and sample scents. Lastly, the History Colorado Museum is hugely underrated, and they have a fun 90s exhibit right now. Answer from Eisenheimmer on reddit.com

What are the transportation options from Denver to Breckenridge?

Shuttle Services

According to forum posts, shuttle services are a common transportation option from Denver to Breckenridge. Some travelers used companies like Epic and Summit Express, which offer scheduled rides from Denver airport directly to Breckenridge. The duration can be around 3 hours, and private shuttle options are also available, though more costly.

Public Transportation

For those preferring public transportation, the Bustang bus service has been mentioned. It operates routes from Denver to Breckenridge, providing an affordable alternative to shuttles. The service is reliable and drops passengers near major locations, making it convenient for travelers.

Uber and Car Rentals

Some travelers inquired about using Uber for this route, but the consensus suggests that the likelihood of finding an Uber willing to make the long trip is low due to the distance and reduced chance of securing a return fare. Renting a car is an alternative discussed, offering flexibility for travelers to manage their schedule and potentially explore the area.

I have a friend visiting who I have taken to many of the Denver hotspots over the last 11 years. I am looking for a special experience that might cost a little extra but is totally worth it. For example, they love brewery/distillery tours but I know some places have special experiences (like New Belgium's production tours). Are there any other restaurants, breweries, Denver hotspots, etc that might have a special experience you would suggest? Thank you for all your suggestions!

Nocturn is always a great time! Art deco styled jazz bar. Strongly encouraged dress code so you can make a nice night of it. Great food, awesome staff! The Yacht Club was just rated one of the best bars in the country. Get the caviar hotdog. Not exactly ‘lesser known’ but it’s a fun time!

Denver- worth seeing?
Wow, such a shocking amount of hate for my city. I’ve been here over 20 years and am never bored or scared or add another negative adjective. Downtown is not going to offer what you get from the center of another big city, but off the top of my head you can: See hilarious local theater at Buntport Go to Meow Wolf for a different kind of art experience See the Clifford Still museum, unique in the world Visit a beautiful Botanic Garden Take in a baseball game downtown Eat at any number of excellent restaurants (Annette, Root Down) or grab good cheap food at Taco de Mexico and then do a first Friday art walk on South Santa Fe if the timing is right Take a bus to Boulder and hang out, or rent a car and drive 30 minutes to hike in the mountains. There’s free music everywhere all summer, and multiple arts and crafts shows If any of this is appealing then yes, come to Denver. The climate is also awesome. To those of you who think we’re all assholes, I’ll just bite my tongue. More on reddit.com

3 weeks ago - After your lunch stop you can begin your incline up the Mount Evans Scenic Byway; don't forget to stop off at the Walter Pesman Alpine Garden to view the oldest living thing on earth, the Bristlecone Pine. Once you reach the top of the mountain, there is a short walk to the actual summit where the air is even thinner and the sun is that bit stronger. Nonetheless, the panoramic views of Colorado from the top are next level and definitely worth the trip. If you're an animal lover you are going to love Denver Zoo!

Also popular is Predator Ridge, where animals such as hyenas and lions roam. Meanwhile, Primate Panorama is a great place to check out monkeys swinging from tree branches.
