8 days in SF with kids
Hi, we (my wife and me and two children, 3 and 5) are planning a trip to SF in February, around 8 days. Can you offer your suggestions on what to do? A mixture of city (multiple neighbourhoods) + nature + day trips? We'll likely have a car. Thanks!

My son is 6 and every single thing he loves about this city exists within Golden Gate Park! I’d recommend a full day or two there. All within the park… Cal Academy is an excellent museum / aquarium / living rainforest and also has a fun outdoor play area. The Botanic Gardens are huge and you can spend hours exploring! I’d recommend this over the Japanese tea garden with little ones, it’s much less formal feeling. The children’s garden has a lot of edible plants for foraging. My son would live there if he could. The Koret Children’s Playground is one of the best in the city. Has big slides with cardboard pieces so you can really fly. There’s also a snack bar and carousel. Have so much fun!

November 13, 2025 - San Francisco’s iconic cable cars are a big hit with kids. They get super crowded, but are worth the squeeze for the fun of riding up and down the city’s giant hills. Plus, they’re a good way to get from A to B (there are three lines, two of which go to Fisherman’s Wharf). You could also go to the Cable Car Museum on Nob Hill, which has a collection of historic cable cars and is a fun thing for kids to do in San Francisco
