Call me close minded.
YT has billions of data sets from all of us users and for decades.
So I really don't get the "audience takes time to find" argument. Seems like your content is simply not being suggested because you're no one or you're too high risk of being skipped (= no ads). I mean if you make one video about cooking and you make Indian recipes, YT knows instantly what audience likes that stuff.
So I don't think it's about wrong niche. It's of course about quality but also about the luck of being "liked" or "watched" by an usual amount of people that triggers the algorithm.

YouTube first attempts to show your video to the most accurate target audience. Often times this select audience will be fairly small. If the CTR and AVD of these people is good, then YouTube will expand the border of that select audience to include a larger demographic. It will continue this process until your video no longer is performing well. For example you post a video about the newest NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card. This could be the theoretical audience selection path: People who have been recently researching the NVIDIA RTX 4090 ——> People who are looking for any graphics card ——> People who are into building computers ——> People who like to be updated on new tech ——> People most likely to use these cards (such as gamers, editors, designers, etc.) ——> etc. There is no “luck” in being liked or watched. It takes a massive amount of research and a deep understanding of your audience to know what thumbnail will hook them, and what style will get them to keep watching. Your videos must provide value.
