Hello all
So I'm thinking of getting a ThinkPad, my first. My research lead me to believe that ThinkPads are best for remote work and daily use. (I work in research and data analysis)
I'm thinking of a P Series laptop. Mostly better they are they only ones I saw without integrated graphics.
P16v Intel Gen 2
P14s AMD Gen 4
P16v AMD Mobile Workstation

Edit: Are the newer gens worth the price increase or should I mainly be worried about specs? Is the 16v or 16s or regular 16 very different from each other? Also, what's up with P1 and 16p?

P16 is the big boy P16v is the value / lighter version P1 is lighter but still very capable. It's expensive though. P16s is the slim option, it's an upgraded T16. Same weight as P1 but cheaper and slower. P14s is the slim option it's an upgraded T14

They are meant to be work stations and have workstation/enterprise features. So, for example, they use the quadro line of gpu with isv certification so you can run engineering programs. They also prioritize compute performance over portability or battery life. So they have some chunky boys in the lineup. There are sometimes similar models in the T or X series. In these cases, the differences come in things like the isv certification vs. gaming gpu or tuned to have higher cpu power... Your model, in particular, has a low-end Quadro gpu, so it's trying to provide some extra graphical grunt for graphics work. However, still maintain some portability and battery life. The GPU can run games, but it's optimized more for 3D modeling applications.
