Honestly, USB-C isnt the robust universal standard its been made out to be. Sure the connectors are 'tested' and 'designed' to be used tens of thousands of times but fact of the matter is that the little connectors are tiny and something like a grain of sand all of a sudden becomes significantly large enough to damage it, not to mention what a little rough handling can do to something this petite. To add insult to injury too many manufacturers have been playing fast and loose with the protocol 'interpretation' on the software side of things causing devices that should be compatible to, well, simply not be compatible. Vague marketing hasn't helped here either. Its often nearly impossible to find what protocols are and are not supported by usb-c devices making it very difficult to find out beforehand if something will work or not. Shitty usb-c chipsets that die for no reason pretty much put the nail in the coffin for me so i avoid the whole standard as much as i can and i will not use it for anything more complex than a single usb connection or charging a single device. This standard could have been very brilliant, it sure was promising enough. But as with so many things cheaping out on literally everything got the better of this standard. Shame. USB--C is nice if and when it works but you just know that it will not stay like that. 3/10 will not use again unless im forced to. More on reddit.com

The only thing to be skeptical about is the durability of the USB-C port connectors. It probably isn't as durable as the "slim tip" power connectors. I haven't seen many complaints about USB-C port failures on Thinkpads, but with phones it's not uncommon. More on reddit.com
