The newest generation of X13, with AMD CPU.

Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350

It's less than 1kg. No more USB-A port on the left side.

It's perfect with Linux. I installed arch and everything works out of the box. The only issue is the USB-C port can only output 4K at 30Hz. Not sure of it's configuration or cable issue.

Ask me anything you want to know about the device.

Pulled the trigger on a Thinkpad X13 gen 6. I wanted something small and portable. Very happy with the feel of the keyboard. Specs are pretty decent. Having moved away from Apple ecosystem, everything seems great so far.

r/thinkpad on Reddit: ThinkPad X13 gen 6 AMD vs Intel?
October 25, 2025 -

Hy everyone,

Since my PC died on me yesterday morning, I’m thinking of buying a ThinkPad. I’ve been using an ASUS Zenbook 13, and I really liked the form factor — compact size, lightweight, and easy to carry. For that reason, I’m considering the ThinkPad X13 Gen 6, which seems quite similar in terms of dimensions and weight.

A couple of details about my usage:

  • I’m a Computer Science PhD student, but most of the heavy computations are done on remote servers, so I don’t need a very powerful machine.

  • I mainly use Arch Linux, browse the web with ~10 tabs open (usually with a YouTube video playing in the background), and occasionally run VS Code locally, though I mostly connect to remote machines via SSH.

  • I don’t plan to play games on this laptop.

  • Battery life is fairly important since I travel often and don’t always have access to a power outlet.

From my research, the X13 Gen 6 seems to perfectly align with my needs. I was thinking of getting the version with the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 340 to maximize battery performance since I don’t need tons of power.

What do you think? Do you have any advice or alternative suggestions?
Also, should I go with the AMD CPU or the Intel Core Ultra 5 225U (or other Intel CPU) instead?

Thanks in advance!

I’m buying a new laptop for college and I’m deciding between the 14 inch X1 Thinkpad and the 13 inch X13. The specs are practically the same, but the X1 is about $350 more expensive. Is there any benefit to the X1 over the X13 other than size?

Specs for the 13” X13 ($1,514):

Processor Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255U Processor (E-cores up to 4.20 GHz P-cores up to 5.20 GHz)

Memory 32 GB LPDDR5X-8533MT/s (Soldered)

Solid State Drive 512 GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 TLC Opal

Wireless Intel® Wi-Fi 7 BE201 2x2 BE & Bluetooth® 5.4

Battery 4 Cell Rechargeable Li-ion 54.7Wh

Graphic Card Integrated Graphics

Specs for 14” X1 ($1,862):

Processor Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155U Processor (E-cores up to 3.80 GHz P-cores up to 4.80 GHz)

Memory 32 GB LPDDR5X-6400MHz (Soldered)

Solid State Drive 512 GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 Performance TLC Opal

Wireless Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 2x2 AX vPro® & Bluetooth® 5.3

Battery 3 Cell Rechargeable Li-ion 57Wh

Graphic Card Integrated Intel® Graphics

I don’t understand much about laptops behind the basic definition of the specs. These seem practically the same, so is there any advantage to spending up for the X1 other than larger screen size?

r/thinkpad on Reddit: X1C G13 vs X13 G6 vs T14s G6 for an efficient dev laptop (Arrow vs Lunar vs Ryzen, OLED vs IPS)
March 28, 2025 -

Hi,

I've had a X1 Carbon gen 6 for a few years and it's starting to show the pass of time. I'm a linux user and I use the laptop mostly for software development and general personal use. I started to take a look to the options last year and I was excited about Lunar Lake on the X1 Carbon Gen 13 and the promise to finally have a very efficient (over 10 hours of battery) laptop.

However, now that I'm doing the research to finally get a new laptop, I've noticed that Lunar Lake, besides being a pretty expensive option on the X1 Carbon Gen13, I can only combine it with either an OLED panel or a touch IPS one. Neither are options I'm fond of. I definitely don't need a touch screen (it may even bring compatibility issues in Linux) and I'm afraid an OLED screen is going to drain the battery in exchange of a type of screen I don't really need for work. The non-touch IPS option is available as well in my region in the X1 Carbon Gen13 but only together with an Arrow Lake CPU. For example a 255U (vs a 258V in Lunar Lake). I've read multiple posts and revies about Arrow Lake and it seems that it's just some continuation of Meteor Lake that does not really make it especially efficient.

Dissapointed, I've taken a look to other alternatives and I noticed the X13 Gen 6 is available with AMD Ryzen Pro 7 350 (also with non-touch IPS panel). I don't mind the slightly smaller chasis (I even find it nice coming from older 12" thinkpads) but I have three issues: 1) There are barely reviews about the X13 Gen 6, 2) I've read mixed reviews about AMD's efficiency and its impact on battery + is thermal management, and 3) I've read that the fan noise and and temperature on the X13 may get a bit too high, in a laptop with just one fan. So, that makes me doubt.

And finally, we have the T14s which is available with Lunar Lake and IPS non-touch, which seems the combination I'm looking for. I haven't had a T model since the T42. I know it's a bit bulkier than the X1 Carbon but the build is supposed to be pretty good. I've read though, that its thermal management and fan noise can get a bit high as well.

So, as you can see I have a few doubts. The idea of continuing with X1 Carbon after many years to avoid surprises sounded very nice but I really want an efficient laptop and I strongly value silent operation (no noises on normal workload) and not warm keyboards (although I have an external monitor I use the laptop "a lot" on my lap. Also, I'm not sure if I'm getting obsessed with Lunar Lake. I'm not sure how much difference in term of temperature and battery life there is compared with Arrow Lake. Same thing about OLED. Maybe OLED does not drain the battery as I imagine, in real life compared to IPS?

I'd love to know anyone's experience or comment about these models and the combinations of Arrow vs Lunar and IPS vs OLED.

thanks all

r/thinkpad on Reddit: E14 Gen 7 vs X13 Gen 6
March 28, 2025 -

Hi everyone,

I am going to buy a new Thinkpad laptop (mostly coding), and currently I am between three models:

E14 Gen 7 (AMD)

  • Ryzen 7 250

  • 32 Gb RAM

  • 1Tb SSD

  • WUXGA 100% sRGB, 300 nits, 60Hz

  • 64 Wh

  • 790 €

X13 Gen 6

  • Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350

  • 32 Gb RAM

  • 512 Gb SSD

  • WUXGA 100% sRGB, 400 nits, 60Hz

  • 54.7 Wh

  • 1240 €

E14 Gen 7 (Intel)

  • Ultra 5 225H

  • 32 Gb RAM

  • 1Tb SSD

  • 2.8K, 100% sRGB 400 nits, 120Hz

  • 64 Wh

  • 980 €

In terms of performance and future-proofing, is the X13 worth the extra €450 over the E14? How does their battery life? What’s the general opinion on the latest Intel processors in these models? Additionally, is opting for the Intel version over AMD justified just for getting a better display,?

September 18, 2025 -

I have a small youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/c/aicvideo

and have been working with Lenovo for quite a few years reviewing their products. They are sending me out a few new devices to take a look at:
P14s Gen 6 - Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350, Radeon 860M, 64GB RAM, and 1 TB storage
X13 Gen 6 - Core Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB Storage
(Also a ThinkStation P3 Tiny Gen 2 if anybody is interested)

I usually do two videos, a simple tear down and then a review, and I like to try to answer any burning questions people have. I only get the systems for about 30 days, after that I send them back and it makes it hard to answer people's questions after the fact.

(I also have a T470s and an E14 gen 3 I bought with my own money on the way, if you are interested in those at all).

Not trying to spam my channel, but I do want to try to benefit the community as much as I can with this opportunity.
