Hello everyone, I have the calculator TI-30X pro. This calculator allows to calculate quartiles (Q1 and Q3). I face an issue as the machine gives me Q3 as 24 even though the value doesn’t exist in my data set. The answer from our school is Q3 = 23 Here is my data set : 23, 21, 18, 19, 20, 18, 30, 25, 18

To find the third quartile, or Q3, we need to first arrange the data set in numerical order. This would give us: 18, 18, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 30 To find Q3, we need to first find the median, or middle value, of the data set. We do this by dividing the number of values in the set by 2. In this case, we have 9 values, so the median would be the value at the 9/2 = 4.5th position. Since we can't have a half value, we need to take the average of the two values that surround this position, which are the values at the 4th and 5th positions. In this case, these values are 19 and 20, so the median would be (19 + 20) / 2 = 19.5. Now that we know the median, we can find the third quartile by finding the median of the values that are greater than the overall median. In this case, we have the values 21, 23, 25, and 30. The median of these values is (23 + 25) / 2 = 24, so Q3 is 24. Therefore, the third quartile, or Q3, of the data set is 24.
