So i’m working as IT support and in this new company i’ve never had experience to troubleshoot Mac, fuck, i’ve never seen in my country that someone using Mac.
So, its not that hard to be Mac administrator but here is a problem that i saw first time today. I had to wipe one laptop and to install a new MacOS and for some reason even after wiping and cleaning HD they are still asking me to put Apple ID which is weird because i don’t have it ( guy left company ) and even after erasing Mac it’s still asking me to put apple ID.
My HR department sent him e-mail but i doubt he will tell us his password so my question is what should i do next ? If i try to reinstall MacOS from USB stick, will i still have same problem ?
I bought an A1398 (mid 2012 retina MBP) running Catalina off Kijiji and it's still linked to an Apple ID, with Find My Mac enabled. There's no firmware password and Filevault is not enabled.
It's asking for the password to un-tick FMM, so I can't turn it off. When I try to sign out of the Apple ID, system prefs locks up.
I booted into Recovery and looked at the Disk Utility. Can I just wipe the Data volume and reinstall the OS?
I've reached out to the seller and am waiting to see if they'll meet again to sign out, but can I do anything on my own? I've found conflicting information regarding this.
edit My problems have been solved. Take a look in the comments if you find you're having the same issue(s).
I wanted to reinstall macOS on my 2020 M1 MacBook pro, and now i get promted with activation lock. Normally when i get the activation lock screen it will say a part of my e-mail adresse/ Apple-id that is linked to this Mac like “m*****@gmail.com”.
But this time it is just blank, and wants me to enter the Apple-id that is linked. I have disabled/ removed “Find My Mac” from iCloud, but still the same issue. My Apple-id is the only id that has been used for this Mac.
I have attached a picture for demonstration. Should I contact Apple support or just start a activation lock request, with my proof of purchase attached.
Hey everyone, I bought a second-hand MacBook Air from a Vodacom store a few years ago. It was wiped and working fine with my own Apple ID all this time.
Recently, I decided to do a full wipe and reinstall macOS. After booting into Internet Recovery, it now asks me to unlock the Mac because it’s apparently still linked to the previous owner’s Apple ID (seems like they never removed it from their “Find My” or iCloud device list).
Has anyone dealt with this before? • Is there a legit way to unlock it or prove ownership to Apple? • Would Vodacom be able to help since that’s where I bought it? • Any tips for contacting Apple Support about activation lock issues on second-hand devices?
Just trying to get it working again — I can show receipts from Vodacom but I don’t have contact with the original owner anymore.
if all else fails can i just boot an executable OS from a thumbdrive i have of linux or something its a old mac so i just want to play with software on it
Edit : I do have the box receipts and all its IDs . Took it to the apple store and found the store it was purchased in conveniently Cape Town so ima just mosey on over there an hopefully initiate operation charisma successfully
I’ve been getting this error any time I try to play personal music files I’ve added.
It says “If you use iTunes Match with your Apple ID, you cannot use iTunes Match, auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days.” Cancel | Transfer
This has been going on for a while now, and hitting “transfer” does nothing. I wouldn’t have noticed right away since it only happens with personal music files, but I THINK it would have started shortly after I had the phone replaced by Apple. If Apple replaced it, it should be a brand new phone right? Not a refurbished one?
Does anyone know any tips to help fix this? The stuff I’ve found online talks about waiting a certain amount of days until a transfer option appears, but I’ve had the Transfer option the whole time, and it’s never done anything
EDIT: in case anyone finds this in the future - I’ve managed to fix this by deauthorising-reauthorising my phone. In iTunes/Apple Music, you can go to Account > View My Account, then go to Manage Devices. My phone was listed as being authorised in 2016, since I’ve just restored each new phone from a backup every time. I deauthorised it, then opened Music on my phone and tried to download a song in order to reauthorise it. That seems to have fixed it
Hi everyone!
So I thought I'd ask this here before I committed to anything.
I want to get my parents an iMac they can both use. They're both iPhone users and sometimes managing their accounts, photos, music, etc. can be a bit unwieldy with just iPhones. So I was thinking of getting a used M1 iMac for them to share. I figured they could each have their own Mac user account and log into their respective Apple IDs.
My question is this: Is this a problem? I ask this because at one point in time, when I got a new MacBook after not even being in the Apple ecosystem for a long time, I made a new Apple ID. Then, I created a second user account and logged into my OLD Apple ID that was kinda ancient. Well, they didn't like that. I couldn't access any TV or Music purchases from my new Apple ID for 90 days since there was a new one logged into that machine. It was frustrating to say the least.
So I assume this will happen for my parents. One will never be able to access their purchases because of this arbitrary 90 DRM policy. Is this still the case? This was like 2 years ago.
Thanks if advance, everyone!
Hello everybody,
Recently I noticed this strange Windows device linked to my Apple ID. I tried to Google it but nothing came up. It’s been over ten years since I used a Windows device. Can somebody tell me what VOYAGER is? I kicked it an change my ID password. Do I need to worry?
Thanks in advance!
So this one might be a bit of a doozy. In February or March of this year I got a new iPhone to replace my old one. I forget how, but my old phone had my dads' Apple ID, as I have never had one as does my current one.
Anyway, since my iPod is so old and Apple announced a couple months ago that they would officially be discontinuing production of iPods, I figured it was time I transfer my music to my iPhone instead and use that from now on. Recently, without having downloaded my music from my library or created my own Apple ID yet, I tried playing a song from said library. I was greeted with a popup saying "This device is already associated with an Apple ID. If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days."
What exactly does this mean? Does it mean if I make my own Apple ID now and switch my dads with that, I can't download or play music for 90 days? Does it mean, if I press Transfer on the aforementioned popup, I have to wait 90 days to play or download anything?
Just bought this brand new M4 MacBook Air. I forgot my login password, so I decided to just do Erase Mac as I had nothing on there yet.
The machine won't recognize my iCloud password either. I enter it in and it says it isn't correct, even though I can sign in on my phone and PC with the same password no problem.
I decide to remove it as a device from my iCloud. Even with that, this is all it shows still. Do I have a paperweight now?
i just found it,i removed from mi account because i don’t feel safe
should i be concerned about this?
I recently reset and sold my old iMac (2013) that I originally bought refurbished and haven’t touched in years. Today the person I sold it sent me this image as they were going through the setup process. Is it worth contact Apple Support about like the message said? As far as I know the only Apple ID that’s been linked to that computer for years has been mine, and I logged out of it before resetting the computer.
