i'm heading out to the los angeles area next month and i wanna hit up some thrift stores when I'm there. i'll want to go to some goodwills but are there any hidden gems around? i'll be around arcadia, monrovia, burbank, glendale and pasadena areas. help a girl with a pitiful closet out!
Everyone I work with is reallyyyy name brands and presentation. I need to freshen up my professional closet and shoes (it’s also not my taste at all, I love basics and chucks?)
Looking for:
1- large store/selections, or possibly a walkable cluster (less time driving from one store to the next)
2- actually affordable (looking at you Los Feliz flea)
3- not junk junk, doesn’t need to be vintage or name brands, just need to look like I didn’t get everything thrifted cause I’m poor
Edit: mid-size, and def prefer dresses for work (easier, looks great) so places with lots of them, and shoes. I have a great sneaker collection but few professional options.

Most of the thrift stores in LA, in my opinion, have been heavily lackluster compared to my experience thrifting in Boston. Prices are higher and quality seems less.
I’ve been to son of a vet, st. Vincent’s, bridge thrift, and a lot of the other small ones.
Are there any stores out there that still hve some decent finds?
So I love thrifting, I don’t even resell but it is a hobby of mine for sure. But it’s not very fun when a basic denim jacket at goodwill is $25 I’m seriously considering traveling to the Midwest just to spend a few days shopping lmao. But until then, where are the best spots in socal? Doesn’t have to be LA. I’m from the desert (antelope valley) and you’d think thrifting would be better here but it’s just as over priced. I’m willing to drive a couple hours away
Open to any suggestions. If it helps, I like the things that are already harder to find since it’s hot here Love vintage jackets like workwear, bomber, leather, etc. 80s-90s clothes. Maybe your dad’s closet if he’s super cool.

We’re looking for men’s vintage clothing, thrift stores that may have brand-names if you dig hard enough, flea markets where brand names are sold/trade, and lastly we really enjoy window shopping stores that have dead-stock shoes, rare Supreme collabs and so forth.
Ps. I saw a TikTok of an LA local who was mad that people who come aren’t impressed because we non-locals don’t know where to go and I’m guilty of this, if I go to LA I’ll just go to the star boardwalk I know nothing else lol. C’mon on man! Someone put me on lol!
A vintage thrift shop called Jet Rag has this amazing Sunday deal where everything in their parking lot is only a dollar! It starts very early in the morning and is popular with hipsters and high fashion kids. It's located on North La Brea Ave. I have found many great finds from this store especially since it's in the heart of downtown a lot of classic Hollywood pieces can be found. They only accept cash so make sure you bring your bills.
Every single thrift store in LA is a potential hot spot.
My closet has over $100,000 of clothes at retail that I’ve spent maybe $4,000 on.
A uniquely LA thrift store though is “It’s A Wrap”. They take stuff from the TV shows and movies filmed around here.

Very long-term thrift shopper here - a general observation is that the deals are no longer what they once were. Many/most thrift stores used to be run by older volunteers. After COVID, things have changed and many had to hire employees and prices have increased accordingly. Also, many have become more savvy with the advent of the Internet and eBay. You can still find the occasional sweet deal, but it ain't what it once was. YMMV, but it's not worth the effort for hidden treasures. Even mundane housewares are pricier.
Going to LA for the first time ever &was hoping to get an insider opinion on any vintage/thrift stores that are promising!

It’s been a while, but Burbank had some decent independent thrift shops. American Thrift or something, and some others within a block or two on Magnolia. Jet Rag used to be cool, too. I hear mixed things about Out of the Closet, but they’re a worthy organization. Enjoy your trip!
The sunday flea market on Fairfax. It’s at the high school campus; there’s always some cool stuff there. $3 entry fee.
