Best thrift shops/antique markets in the area
I wouldn't really recommend thrift/antique stores here. Retail space and labor is too expensive to make the thrift business model work very well compared to, say, smaller towns in the central valley like Chico/Paradise. There are, however, some good flea markets in Niles and San Jose, and both Mountain View and Palo Alto have city-wide yard sales in the summer that can be worth going to. Not in San Mateo (but also not super far) there’s a street in downtown Menlo Park that has several thrift stores. There’s a Goodwill Boutique (has some more designer items than a typical Goodwill), The Shop, American Cancer Society, and Repeter all within a block or two of each other. More on reddit.com

Most so called "thrift" stores in the Bay Area are pretty pricey to the point of sometimes seeming like brand new. The only real thrift stores I know of around here are Goodwills.
