Thyroid Storm brought on by weed?
yes!! I stopped smoking because of this. Took a small hit once & got the worst panic attack (my first time experiencing one) & it scared the hell out of me. It started with a really bad chest pain & then I felt like I couldn’t get a deep breath in. I remember going outside for air & everything below my knees just felt super weird. I honestly thought I was going to have to go to the hospital but it passed after an hour. More on reddit.com
how do i know if i’m having thyroid storm
You’d more than likely have a low grade fever, and your heart rate would be high for no reason. That just sounds like normal day to day of Graves for me. But you should talk to your doctor to be safe and ask for bloodwork More on reddit.com
I think I’m in Thyroid storm and don’t know what to do
A thyroid storm is a single medical event it’s not like an autoimmune flair, it can only happen if your graves is active and uncontrolled - meaning absolutely no medication for a very long period of time (in my case 18 months) when I had a thyroid storm my symptoms had become more and more extreme and then there was a single emergency where my hr got to 206bpm and I nearly died. If you are currently or recently medicated you’re not going to have a thyroid storm. If you think your levels are off, especially if you think you’re still hyper you should definitely push your way into the endo and if they won’t see you in enough time I’d go to a clinic or a family doctor or even go to the hospital and tell them you have this condition you’re having symptoms you need a blood test to confirm so you can have your dose changed. Good luck!! More on reddit.com
Thyroid storm.. I felt like I was dying.
I am so sorry that you experienced that. I had severe thyroid swings (hypo and hyper) the year leading up to menopause. It was crazy. I felt crazy. But my doctor (PCP/GP) was very responsive. I was able to go to the lab and my doctor would make adjustments to my dosage within a day or so. All done on the phone or through the portal. Maybe find a doctor who is more available. I have never seen an endo in 25 years. Treating Hashimoto’s is not rocket science. I do see an allergist and a GI because they have equipment and supplies that my GP does not have easy access to.
