Is this a good way to do a sequence in TIA Portal?
I always use 10, 20, 30 instead of step 1,2,3 as you can add more steps between which always happens. More on reddit.com
Tia portal style of coding
tia portal is the most complete package of them all. Is it the best? Depends who you ask. I really like Graph with scl in Tia Portal it’s the way to go for programming productionlines More on reddit.com
Sequences with Siemens: Graph vs Ladder
None of the above. For Siemens PLCs I prefer to implement my state machines in SCL, and if that's unavailable due to customer requirements, STL. My customers' (or end users') maintenance engineers are fluent in STL, so that's their preferred language. They'll get better and/or more functionality for their money if I'm working in SCL because it's a higher level language, so that's my preference as an integrator. We're in a transition period, from STL to SCL, where more and more of my programs are written in SCL. More on reddit.com
How do you manage your sequences/cases in s7-1200? This is how we do it in our company.
I feel because of the size of this network it will be clumsy to scroll/read when online. Breaking each transition into its own network may make it a little better. Otherwise this would be how I'd do it, either this or use SCL/ST and Case statements. More on reddit.com

The Complete Practical Guide to Siemens Tia Portal Programming
Besides the usual data types (Integer, Real, Boolean…) a variable in Tia Portal can be of a predefined data type called User Data Type. Its structure is mutable and can be composed of any combination of other data types available and arrays, for example. The use of UDTs helps in data structure organization and replication, making it easier to develop and diagnose programs.

Siemens S7 Graph Tips and Tricks | DMC, Inc.
December 23, 2025 - SIMATIC S7 Graph is used for programming sequence logic in a graphical, flow chart representation. For those of us who have been programming sequences in ladder logic or SCL, Graph presents an alternative method that includes some built-in functionality. For those that haven’t used Graph (and maybe those who have!), I’ve put together some tips […]
