What is dynamic pricing and why is it hiking ticket prices for Oasis, Taylor Swift and your favorite artist?
October 2, 2024 - Ticketmaster has even rolled out its Verified Fan system that grants exclusive access to presale tickets. But even that folded when faced with the tidal wave of demand for Taylor Swift tickets. One option is to simply increase the supply. Ticketmaster forced to be transparent about ‘dynamic pricing’ mechanisms - Thred Website
September 25, 2025 - After nigh-on a year, the watchdog has revealed that it ‘secured formal commitments’ from Ticketmaster to ensure fans are given more information about different ticket prices in future sales. The company will now have to disclose 24 hours in advance if a ‘tiered’ pricing system is being employed: including how many tickets are available at each price point, clearer labelling on seat maps and at checkout, and a heads up on what specific events are causing prices to change during the sale window in real time.

r/Ticketmaster on Reddit: Ticket Master Pricing My Ticket at Much Higher Than My Chosen Asking Price
June 20, 2025 -

I was lucky to get tickets to Lady Gaga's upcoming upcoming tour for 2 different dates.

Long story short she didn't announce dates in my city until more recently, so I ended up initially getting tickets in another state, but since she's going to be at the arena 15 min from me, I no longer need to travel to the other state to see her. I just want to have my original ticket sold asap, so I purposely priced it at a significant lower rate than the other tickets in the same area. Keep in mind, my ticket is an 8th row floor seat that is right next to the catwalk.

As of today the ticket still hasn't sold, so I opened Ticketmaster in another browsers to find my ticket, and I see that Ticketmaster has the price listed at $450 more than I listed it at! It's even $150 more than the seats that are rows closer to the stage. I'm so annoyed because I just want to sell it and I'm not trying to be a scalper. But no one is going to buy it at the rate they are showing it at.

Does anyone know how to work around this issue??

r/poppunkers on Reddit: Can someone explain to me how Ticketmaster's "dynamic pricing" isn't illegal price gouging? I'm seeing $752 for a first run (non-resale) GA ticket for Blink-182 in NY.
October 17, 2022 -

As the title indicates, these tickets are selling for $752 as Ticketmaster's "Premium" tickets. However, Premium is not VIP or some extra package, it is merely Ticketmaster's term for dynamically-priced tickets, as TM explains: "Platinum Tickets are tickets that are dynamically priced up and down based on demand. Platinum Tickets are not part of VIP packages - they are tickets only."

I am wondering if this somehow violates New York's anti-price-gouging law, General Business Law §396-R.

September 25, 2025 - Ticketmaster sold some ‘platinum’ tickets at almost 2.5 times the price of ‘standard’ tickets – without sufficient explanation that these offered no additional benefits over some ‘standard’ tickets in the same areas of the venue. In response, the CMA has secured undertakings to ensure fans buying tickets are treated fairly. These undertakings require Ticketmaster to: tell fans 24 hours in advance if a tiered pricing system is being used (as it was for Oasis standing tickets).

Limited Quantity: Make it clear that only a certain number of tickets are available at each tier. Exclusive Perks: Offer special bonuses for the first X number of buyers. The trick is to be genuine. Nobody likes feeling like they're being manipulated. Be upfront about why you're offering a discount or why tickets are limited. Transparency builds trust, and trust leads to sales. Ever wonder why so many things are priced at $9.99 instead of $10?
