I was an early user of TIKR. I really enjoy the broad coverage they provide and especially being able to visualize financials and have access to filings for international companies. After I used TIKR and other similar platforms I started building my own: 10kreader.com . If anybody wants to check it out, it’s a fully free alternative. Similar to TIKR you have filings, transcripts, and financials. Financials go back further and you have unique ways to visualize financials like Sankey charts for income statement. I've used the Bloomberg Terminal extensively over the course of a few years. I haven't used TIKR. In my opinion, there is no budget alternative that compares to the accuracy, robustness, and proprietary research that a Bloomberg terminal has. There are competitors that I have heard are comparable in the form of FactSet for research and Refinitiv for data, at comparable prices to a terminal. That all being said, I don't think most people will need the data speed and wide breadth of data provided by Bloomberg. In my eyes, the best alternative is Ycharts. Ycharts is what I now use, and I find it covers everything I need. They, however, don't have proprietary research. So that's what the 20k premium gets you from the above competitors. I’m leaving tikr. They changed things up so you can only copy 3 years at a time which is obnoxious. Why the change? No clue, it was an unnecessary handicap. For about 4 months or so they got rid of the copy table button and I reached out twice. They didn’t care. Completely unacceptable for an online business. If they can’t fix a simple copy function then what if something truly goes wrong? They also only keep 10 years of data at a time which is annoying, because as soon as TTM for the new year pops up after Q1, your first fiscal year data disappears. Most of these platforms only have 10 years at a time. Maybe it’s a server storage limitation or to prevent maxing out storage space. Not sure. Looking at finchat or roic.ai as alternatives. Maybe quick FS. My only concern with finchat and roic tis that they appear to be AI based. And if GPT is replaced in 3-5 years what happens with the core of these? Do they switch? Is it seamless? Do they close shop because they can’t take on the switching costs? No clue. But these are cheaper than tikr. I fear that with these screening tools it’ll be a game of hopping trains for a while as the industry competes. You have a lot of redundancy going on with these platforms. yeah, tikr terminal is great. I use finviz for the global market red/green chart, yahoo finance for basic price checks and financials, and tikr for screening and analyzing if I actually want to buy something. More on reddit.com
