So, that eliminates the supposed benefit of combining both actions at once. The next issue is, even if I eliminate the time it takes to pre-vacuum from consideration, the time it take to prepare, use, clean and disassemble for drying, is much longer, takes more effort, and is messier than just using my cheap O’Cedar/Vileda spin mop. We saw this at our local Costco yesterday for $349, it comes with a small handheld vacuum as part of a combo. Kind of like this : https://store.tineco.com/products/tineco-floor-one-s5-combo-cordless-lightweight-smart-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner but the one at Costco is the "S3" and not the "S5".
Anyone know much about this vacuum? I tried looking here but didn't quite find anything.
I already have a Miele C3 Calima, but we have exclusively hardwood floors [mixture of real wood (living room) + Luxury Vinyl Plank (kitchen)] in our home.
It would be nice to get something that does mopping.

I have 4 dogs. I love the S3. My house is 3300 sq ft with all wood and tile. Works great on both. I can do the whole house on one charge. I disagree that cleanup and disassembly takes some time. It takes seconds once you've done it enough and know the drill. Buy a strainer from the dollar store and dump your wastewater through it and chuck the solids in the trash.

My wife and I are looking at a tineco. I fully understand it is a decent at everything and not great at anything system. We have a toddler and a baby and time is limited to do both vacuum and mop.
Costco has the iFloor 3 Ultra for $250, Amazon has the iFloor S3 One for $250 currently.
What is the difference between these? My quick google search says the S3 one is better, but I don’t trust myself enough to not ask you all as well.
Is there reason to jump to an S5 or S7?

The main difference is the iFloor S3 One has the iLoop automatic setting which adjusts the power. But I do not recommend any Tineco appliances. Tineco has terrible warranty service and parts availability. If you look at past posts you'll see Tineco denying warranty replacement and offering discounts on a new machine. If you want a vacuum mop look for one that is corded or has replaceable batteries. I'd go for this Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam Deluxe #3515Q also $250 at Costco. The Bissell Crosswave is one of the few machines that can purely dry vacuum hard floors, you don't have to use the steam, and you can use the vacuum mode to suck up spills and helps dry the floors. The Hoover Onepwr Streamline is one of the few cordless vac-mops with replaceable batteries. I do want to warn you that any vacuum-mop is high maintenance. You must clean and empty the tanks after each use, you must wash and dry the filter and brushroll. Missing any maintenance will lead to permanent odors. If you are pressed for time get a good cordless vacuum and a spray mop. I recommend a Hoover Onepwr Evolve with 2 batteries so you always have a battery charged and it can stand up on its own. Pair that with a good spray mop and a weeks worth of extra mop pads. The Rubbermaid spray mop is cheap and you can use your own cleaner. I hope that helps.
