So I went on tinfoil today and it said unable to start software. Im on the most recent version of sigpatches can someone please help.

Did you recently update the console or atmosphere? You need to also update tinfoil. You have to delete the tinfoil folder on the SD card I think under switch and unistall the foardwarder (icon) on the switch and the reinstall from the home brew menu it useing the self installer it will re add the icon.

Where can I get the most current sigpatches? I can't open tinfoil either.

Recently hacked my switch, tried getting tinfoil but when opening installer it says that, a forwarder got made on the home menu but it doesn't work from there either :( I have the latest versions of Hekate, atmosphere, sigpatches and the console itself If anyone knows the answer please tell... I found a fix. After you update sigpatches don't download the self insaller... Try the Applet version. Worked for me! More on reddit.com

NH guide intentionally does not load fs patches, which tinfoil needs to run. Theres a reason this sub highly recommends the rentry guide and not the nh guide. Id recommend either following the cfw setup section from the rentry guide or injecting fusee instead of hekate to boot. More on reddit.com

update: tinfoil self installer is giving version 1.17 and not the newer 1.18 it appears. downloading the applet NRO works, but it needs to launch without applet, since tinfoil doesnt appear in home screen, I cant launch it without applet mode. update 2: FIXED! I used the hbmenu nro and turned it into an nsp and downloaded it with DBI so hbmenu appears in home screen now, from there, holding R and pressing A, launched it without applet mode. tinfoil works now. check replies to this comment for a more detailed explanation. update 3: Bruh. You can skip all this process if you have a single game or software, by just holding R and A on a game will launch hbmenu without applet mode, I believe this should work with the Tinfoil self installer (self installer appears on home screen, applet tinfoil doesnt). 1 week ago - I installed the latest versions of atmosphere (1.4.1) and hetake (6.0.1), when I enter RCM and start the hetake payload, I go to launch and start Atmosphere FSS0, I downloaded the latest version of tinfoil (15.0) and when I try to open it it just says "unable to start software" I emphasize that I made the change from scratch, I didn't have to update the software.

I found a fix. After you update sigpatches don't download the self insaller... Try the Applet version. Worked for me!

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get tinfoil to work on my switch with atmosphere. I extracted the fusee.zip from this link for my sig patches to the base of my SD card, and I used the self installer from tinfoils website. When I try to install the app, I get told "Could not start the software" along with nothing else. If I exit airplane mode then try to start the software, I get error code 2155-8007. I have blocked all communication to nintendos servers on my emuMMC. I don't know where to go from here. I'm content with using gold leaf to install NSPs, but the only website I have found so far uses bittorrent, and I'm not too big on the idea of that as I don't want to spend money on a VPN when I can just get tinfoil to work. Lastly, I originally tried installing tinfoil on 13.0, but have since upgraded my switch and emuMMC to 13.2. Any help would be appreciated :)

Accidentally updated switch to 19.0.0. I did a clean install, added atmosphere 1.8.0, sigpatches, and did the tinfoil self installer, but it wont start. I also tried the AIO from sigpatches, but also no luck. I also tried downgrading to 18.1 firmware, still nothing. Could not start software. Anyone have the same problem?

Only run the self installer once. If you install it and Tinfoil will not launch, then you are missing the correct signature patches required to run homebrew titles. If you are unable to obtain the correct homebrew patches, then download the Applet version of Tinfoil.
