For the student discount, you basically use your .edu email and send any student identification such as a report card. They send back a confirmation which grants you the discount. The 70% discount is indeed on the business plan but it's extremely cheap. In $, the monthly charge is $1.80 after applying the discount. More on reddit.com

It’s perfectly fine, I’m a student & took the discount to get that business account. The only difference you’ll see is that you’ll now have access to all the locked features.

It needs business account so, when you move your account from premium to business, all premium time will fly and just 30days of business plan will come. This is not how Todoist describe the upgrade. This page says "Our system will automatically check if you or any newly invited accounts are Premium. If so, the system will convert the value of the remaining Premium time into an account balance for your Business team." All the pages about converting to the business subscription say things like "convert your personal account to a free business trial", so the 30 days you saw was the free trial period they gave you. In the education page , Apply now for a 50% discount button is not working. as a guess, it could be frozen by the team of todolist because of the price updates ( +%25 to give users more simple prices (!) ) at the begining of the December. Before jumping to conclusions and conspiracy theories, make sure it's not a problem at your end. The button works fine for me, but it launches an iframe pointing to a JotForm domain, so depending on your browser extensions and adblock settings you may have something blocking it. When you try to return again Premium Plan from Business to try to get old 3 premium months, they will give you just one month as a standart prosedure. See my first response. You are probably still looking at a 30 day free trial period, but if something has gone wrong I see no reason why Todoist wouldn't honour the three months you paid for. There's no need to address your pending points because they're based on the misunderstanding in the first three. More on reddit.com

Looks like todoist have stopped their student discount program:
As of March 2021, we’ve retired the Todoist for Education discount program. We’re optimistic about relaunching a much better version of this program in the future. This means that:
As of now, we will no longer be renewing preexisting discounts or offering this discount to new users.
If you and your team have previously been approved for the discount, you can continue to use it until its expiration date (your expiration date is one year from the date you were approved for the discount).
The information in this article will remain available for users whose discount has not expired yet.
This is quite a bummer for me. I started with grad school in February and used a referral code to get two months premium for free, just to see whether it's better than Microsoft To-Do. I found todoist much better than MS To-Do so I will keep using it.
So, for now, I will pay 4 euros per month and I really hope that Todoist comes with a student discount soon.

So sad, I fell in love with todoist, because I could pay the premium version with the student discount. I think is an horrible decision, there are plenty alternatives to choose instead of todoist for task management, definitly students won't pay the standard price.
