Suppose they decide to make a new Mission: Impossible movie. With a studio like that, you never know. Mission: Impossible is a powerful franchise. Isn't Tom Cruise getting too old to be a credible Ethan Hunt action hero? No matter how good Tom Cruise still looks, how young he looks for his age, how fit he is, if there ever is another Mission: Impossible movie, his age will gradually overtake his character's credibility.
Even if Tom Cruise does all his own stunts and he can still do it, when you watch such a movie, you're not watching Tom Cruise, you're watching Ethan Hunt. And I wonder if an action hero aged 65+ to 70 or older would still be believable?

It’s simple, if Cruise is old and there are more missions to come those movies will be more espionage thrillers rather than action blockbusters. So expect more scenes like the Kremlin infiltration, vehicle chases and less of stunt show spectaculars like the plane scenes from FR.
