Must Try
I've seen a few places thrown out that are just good local spots. For really good food coming from out of town, I'd check out: -New Saigon (Denver has surprisingly good Vietnamese) -Beckon (if you're prepared to spend a couple hundred or more per person. You may leave hungry) -Safta (great Israeli food, good portion sizes) -Hop Alley (good value, great Chinese food) -Las Tortas (casual Mexican sandwiches) -Cart Driver (phenomenal pizza, service is seriously on point - it really isn't "just a pizza place") -Dio Mio (casual pasta spot - don't get it to go, quality becomes more iffy) -Sushi Den for sushi because it's a Denver staple, but you could do Uchi as well. Neither will disappoint -Tavernetta (if you want something in the Union Station area. Legendary service and wine list, good food) -El Five (don't expect phenomenal food, but the views are unmatched) More on reddit.com
List of top Denver restaurants?
As Ed Norton once said, "You met me at a very strange time in my life". The Denver dining scene like every other city is in a state of flux right now. A lot of restaurants have gone under, the ones still going are doing so at greatly reduced capacity, with menus drastically changed in order to accommodate the shifting Covid restrictions. There's still great food out there, but the dining scene is a shadow of its former self right now. On top of this, Eater slashed their Denver staff (to 1 person I believe) just before the pandemic, which is unfortunate because they had a pretty good take on what was worth checking out here. That being said, there are still great restaurants and good sources for restaurant recommendations out there. 5280 Magazine - https://www.5280.com/ Westword - https://www.westword.com/ Eater Denver - https://denver.eater.com/maps/best-restaurants-denver-eater-38 - Covid or not, their essential 38 list is still a solid representation of Denver food. Just call ahead, at least one or two of these places have closed in the last year. More on reddit.com

The Best Restaurants in Denver, Colorado | Eater Denver
April 10, 2018 - In a dimly lit, cantina-esque setting, the kitchen also specializes in guisados featuring ingredients like bone marrow, cochinita pibil, chayote squash, and grasshopper served on tacos, pambazos, and more; there’s a unique brunch Thursday through Sunday with items such as carne asada–topped huaraches and concha French toast; and on Wednesdays, al pastor or fish tacos come with a margarita for $5–$7. And speaking of cocktails, the bar does wonders with not only tequila and mezcal but the likes of pox, pulque, and charanda. ... While Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder (see above) may well be Colorado’s most famous dining destination, its Denver sibling is every bit as notable.

April 9, 2025 - Izakaya doesn’t take reservations, but you can avoid most of the long line by arriving 10-15 minutes before they open on weekends. Don’t let that scare you away, though, because Izakaya Den is absolutely worth any wait. ... Pretty nondescript from the outside, La Diabla Pozole is a great lesson in not judging a book by its cover. La Diabla is Denver’s first eatery dedicated to pozole, a traditional Mexican soup made from hominy and meat that’s garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chile peppers, radishes, avocado, salsa, and limes.

Must-Try Restaurants in Denver | A Foodies Guide
Inspired by Curiel’s childhood in the Jaliscan Highlands, the menu offers 20ish dishes in the lineup, ranging from an uni-topped Kanpachi tostada to jalapeño cornbread slathered in huitlacoche butter to a gargantuan porterhouse with black truffle salsa. The restaurant, inside the Clayton Hotel, is much larger than Curiel’s LoHi spots, meaning more space to spread out with a hibiscus margarita in hand and a better shot at actually getting a table. Omakase spots may be having a moment in Denver, but when you’re craving 20 to 25 courses of the freshest possible fish (and dropping $200-plus per person) you need someone you can trust at the helm.
