His House is probably the best horror film netflix has added in the past few years and it sounds like exactly what you're looking for. It's this incredible blend of supernatural scares with real emotional weight about the refugee experience, and the suspense builds perfectly throughout. The scares feel earned rather than cheap, and Wunmi Mosaku's performance is absolutely phenomenal. If you want something more recent, there's also Cam which is this really unsettling psychological thriller about identity theft in the digital age that'll mess with your head. For pure suspense, The Platform is intense as hell and will have you thinking about it for days after. I actually keep a running list of hidden gems like these since I'm always hunting for stuff that flies under the radar - feel free to check out my profile if you want more recs or just shoot me a DM.
