Hi everyone!
I'm looking at buying a new laptop, since my current one (HP Envy x360) decided to have a "static discharge" issue (according to Professor Google) with the motherboard. Although I was eventually able to turn on my laptop, and it hasn't had any issues since (it's been about 2 weeks since the motherboard freaked out), my small business and my personal life all depend on my laptop working. It scares me that I could be without one!
I have a few questions:
-
Should I get one now, just to be on the safe side?
or
2) Wait for Black Friday deals?
3) And when I do get one, any suggestions?
Here's what I use it for (professionally and personally):
-
Video editing
-
Video gaming (nothing extreme- mostly playing online with my sister, nothing MMO- usually just like Assassin's Creed or Overcooked 2 or something. I also do solo PC gaming similar to Skyrim or other open world RPGs)
-
Storage of videos/audio
-
Lots of virtual meetings with many different tabs open.
Here's what I like in a laptop:
-
15" screen is my favorite size. Smaller is too small. Bigger is too heavy
-
Touchscreen preferred
-
Ample storage for video storage & editing
-
Some sort of graphics card is nice, but it doesn't need to be super amazing.
-
Battery lasts at least 3 hours while doing any of the above "intense" things
Whatever:
-
Numpad is nice but not needed
-
Backlight nice but not needed
-
Good audio & camera nice but not needed
Budget: Honestly at this point any laptop that doesn't give me problems after only 2 years of use is golden and worth spending a pretty penny on.
I had a Surface Laptop Go and it keep killing my SSDs so I am in the market to get a fairly decent priced laptop that have a touchscreen and the ability to upgrade RAM and SSD. I plan on just using the laptop for regular use and maybe use Adobe and Microsoft apps on it as well, no heavy use like gaming or anything like that.
