Here's a new way to pick up recommendations for the kind of authors and books you like to read. Enter the name of an author at Literature-Map and the website provides you with a "map" of similar authors. Some of my searches: J. K. Rowling, Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Ursula Le Guin, Iain Banks, and (just for the heck of it) William Shakespeare.

What it is: Literature Map is a neat little web tool that I learned about from Samantha, an iLearn Technology reader. Thanks Samantha! Literature Map makes it simple to discover new authors. Student’s can type in the name of a favorite author and instantly get a cloud of related authors.

The Map of Literature is a graphical visualization of how the world’s literature evolved from the ancient era to the present day. With tools such as Google Maps and various social media outlets, libraries and other institutions have a great opportunity to create dynamic literary maps for use in schools and by book enthusiasts alike.
