I’m not sure if this is okay to ask on this sub but I am trying to find the best way to track my mother’s location on her phone. She has dementia and has started to wander off. I’d like to find a way to track her location while we put other supports in place to keep her safe.
We both have iPhones and Verizon service, but are on different accounts/plans. I do have access to her Apple ID login credentials. Any other suggestions for location tracking are welcome too. We live about 5 miles apart if that makes a difference in tracking options.

How is my iPhone being tracked without app?
I’ve recently found out from a mutual friend that my ex is tracking me through my phone. I didn’t have any tracking apps on my phone. I have done a full reset to hopefully delete any hidden apps that I couldn’t see. I looked through the hidden app section in the App Store but it was empty.
I had no idea this was happening so I just have a feeling that he could still be tracking me. I also know for a fact this was happening as our friend told me that my ex knew I’d been in a specific location that I hadn’t told this friend or my ex about. My ex is very good with stuff like this and I’m really not.
Anyone know how this could be happening? Could my factory reset have fixed this? Any idea how I can fix this issue if the rest didn’t work?
EDIT should’ve mentioned that all my location services are turned off. No find my iPhone. No sharing with friends and fam. Nothing is on. I even turned off location tracking in all my apps except google maps.

Go to settings and look in “find my”. You might have something turned on there. Is his details listed in your friends/family with location sharing turned on?

Do you have Snapchat? I remember being able to keep track of friends on it without asking them for tracking. Do you have Google Maps Location Sharing enabled? Does your ex have access to a device that's signed into your Apple ID? Otherwise, maybe your ex is good at guessing, or you're really bad at telling people your whereabouts in everyday conversation without realizing it. Other than that, maybe your ex just has some non-Apple tracking device on your personal belongings - which is scary.

So a funny story i found an iphone in a sea. It was about to have 0% but i sprang into the water in underwear and got it out. A weird couple recorded the action even. I waited for someone to call it or for someone to look for it but nothing happened. I carried on partying and forgot about it. Two days after i charged it up and realized it didnt have any emergency contacts, nor infos, nor sim card, nor wifi connection. So i tried opening it with itunes to find who it belonged to. Then it got locked out and it said the owner sees the location of the iphone. I dont mind that at all im just interested in how can they track it without wifi nor sim ? If nobody arrives here i will travel to the next apple shop and give it to them. Thanks for the answers in advance!

iPhone has an internal chip that operates like an AirTag. Uses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, networking, to verify location. It doesn’t need a cellular connection to do this. It will literally ping other Apple devices within its sniffing range, and have those working devices ping the disconnected devices location to Apple servers. Same way that AirTag works.
