I returned an item right before Christmas by dropping it off at the UPS store, and they scanned the QR code and gave me a receipt. When I check the return status it's still showing "return requested" and telling me I need to return it by February something. There's a reference number on the receipt from the UPS store, but how do I check it? I don't see a spot on amazon to do so, and on the receipt it says to "contact Amazon for status." I already got the replacement item, but I'm worried that they are going to double charge me because they didn't update the return to show that I returned it!

I dropped off a few Amazon returns at Kohls yesterday and was given tracking IDs. I've spoken with Kohls customer support and Amazon customer support. I've also entered the tracking ID in all of the carriers Kohls has listed on one of their help pages, but it all turns up invalid.
Tracking ID format: KOH##########
Does anyone where where I can use this tracking ID?
I think they changed it so you can only do it through the app now. The option to track it seems to be missing from the webpage, but it's still there on the app. The other issue, of course, is when you pick drop-off locations, they don't give you your refund till after they get the item back. I've never had that issue using a UPS store, as soon as they scan it, I get my refund. So my advice is to do that, plus it costs them money.

I applied for a return from Amazon in the US today! They generated a UPS return label, but I didn’t get a Tracking ID, and the driver still picked up the goods at my door! How can I get my return order Tracking ID now! Please help me!
So I'm definitely in a really tough spot here and no one seems to be able to help me out. My only options as far as returns were to take it to a UPS store or to print and pay for my own return label (which would've been north of $100 due to the size of the box). I'll try to outline everything in the order of events to hopefully keep things organized:
August 16th: I ordered a $1400 computer monitor from Amazon which was delivered on the 19th, I believe. I opened it up, saw that it had some uniformity issues, and promptly requested a refund. Amazon gave me a QR code to drop it off at UPS without my needing to pack or label it (which makes sense since the box was huge and just had the shipping label slapped onto it). The QR code was different from what I'd seen before, however, and did not have a tracking number tied to it. It just had "The UPS Store," the QR Code, and "Customer Packed" on it. If I print the code, it has an RMA ID beneath the QR code (never seen that before) and the "return ship method labeled" as "LabelLess_UPSDropOFF"
August 20th: I drop off two sets of Amazon returns at UPS that day, one for two smaller items I could carry in at once, and another for the computer monitor. I receive two separate receipts from the UPS store.
August 22nd: UPS reports that the package has been picked up and is en route for delivery, tentatively scheduled for the 24th.
August 23rd: UPS reports that the package was delivered to an Amazon facility in Phoenix, AZ. The package was signed by "PHX IE MDU."
September 8th: No update has occurred on the monitor. The the other I shipped the same time has already been refunded and logged in my account. I reach out through the Amazon support chat and I am then told to wait until September 18th to let Amazon investigate what happened and to follow up if no progress has been made. I receive another cs-reply email shortly thereafter that says that the associate could not find any return tracking information and requested that I send on over a scanned copy of the return receipt. I submit the Drop-off Package Receipt UPS gave me at the time as well as a Proof of Delivery from UPS's website. I do not hear back from customer support.
September 18th: I follow up through the cs-reply email asking for an update on the return. I then receive another cs-reply email asking me submit the return shipping receipt, and I again provide the documentation I did before. at 5:50 PM, I am told that the item wasn't scanned by the carrier and because I was now past the 30-day return window, that Amazon would not issue me a refund nor would they assist me further. I then follow up with the customer support chat who tells me to call UPS and file a lost package claim. I called UPS and the lady who helped me told me that there may have been an issue with the delivery as their system was showing it as delivered the day after the date than the proof of delivery from the website was showing (so August 24th instead of August 23rd), and to contact Amazon to have them file a claim for the package. So I call Amazon customer support, and a very nice gentleman helped me out. However, he said that his system was showing the package as having been delivered on August 24th (which lines up with what the UPS representative told me, but I never told him the date) and that I should wait until the 24th as it could take up to 30 days to process my refund. He said he made a note on my account that I called and that the package was showing as delivered so that it would be an easy thing once I got back into contact with them. I saw that this would push me past the 30-Day return period, and so I asked him if that would be a problem as far as the return went. He assured me that because his system showed a delivery to the warehouse, it wouldn't be a problem at all.
September 25th: Now having passed the deadline I was given, I get into contact with the cs-reply email as I am feeling under the weather. Again, I am told that the item wasn't scanned by the carrier and again they request the documentation I have already submitted twice. I then receive a follow-up saying it wasn't scanned by the carrier. I decide to just call them when I'm feeling better.
September 26th: I give Amazon CS a call, and get transferred to an Order Specialist. She then tells me that the documentation I provided doesn't match the tracking information in their system. I then clarify the order number and ask her to clarify what she means. She then says that Amazon generated a tracking number for the order but that it doesn't match the tracking number I provided, but refuses to give me the tracking number that Amazon has and tells me to file a claim with UPS. I respond that I already called UPS and they told me that Amazon has to file the claim (which tracks because UPS wouldn't let me file a claim against the tracking number as a shipper because I'm the account holder for the tracking number), and she insists that I contact UPS.
At this point, I'm flustered and burnt out. I opened a claim with UPS on the tracking number I was provided at the original drop-off (as a third party since I couldn't open the claim as a shipper) and submitted 4 pieces of documentation. I have $1400 on the line here and I suspect that UPS, even if they are able to locate the package, will not be able to do anything for me as I imagine that if the return is actually lost, they're going to refund Amazon who supposedly won't refund me because their tracking information doesn't match what I was given by UPS and I'm past the 30-day return period, even though I was told by one of their representatives to do so.
Even more frustrating is that I returned an identical monitor two weeks later in an identical manner from the same UPS store and that was already refunded without issue. I got another QR code without a tracking number with the same information as the one outlined above, and it was returned to the same location in Phoenix and signed by the same signature. I'm 100% sure that my first return made it to the right spot, and I'm not really sure what other options I have at this point.
I've seen some older threads mention emailing a Jeff Bezos email and trying to escalate it with a higher-standing CS rep, but is that an avenue worth exploring?
End of Saga Update (for future reference):
Shenanigangs with CS reps kept up for another 3 weeks. No one was able to give me a solid answer for why the internal tracking number and QR-scanned tracking number didn't match. Ended up filing a chargeback with my credit card (Amazon Visa via Chase) and was settled in my favor 4 weeks later with no additional supporting documents or follow-up. Amazon has not, as of the new year, banned my account though this is likely due to 10 years of Prime membership and thousands of dollars of sales so YMMV.
tl;dr: Amazon cannot handle issues outside of their customer support flowchart. Call support once, email [email protected] once, and then FILE A CHARGEBACK. Don't spend weeks hunting down CS reps (especially UPS, holy shit is it impossible to get someone on the phone) and hours on the phone getting the same scripted responses.
This is the first time when I dropped off a return I wasn’t given a ups tracking but only a reference number and the receipt says to contact Amazon for status. Anyone else experienced this or know what could be the cause of this?
How do you track what happened to the items that got returned from customer? I enabled the Automated unfulfillable settings but I never know what happened to the returned items, anyway to track them?
A seller on eBay drop-shipped something to me from Amazon (I didn't know she was going to do that, and she had the wrong item sent). She sent a QR code to return it to Amazon via the UPS Store which said above and below it, "no package or label needed."
So I took it to the UPS store yesterday (Friday) and they gave me a receipt for it. But the tracking/reference number isn't recognized by my UPS app. And the receipt says "Carrier and Service: Contact Amazon for Status." The tracking number begins with DB, not 1Z.
Is there any way I can track this? The seller seems kinda shady and non-communicative, and seemed upset that I wanted to return the item, and I don't quite trust her to tell me when the package has arrived.
I dropped off the package last Saturday. Their printer wasn’t working so she told me to take a picture of the return label instead of giving me a receipt.
When I track the 1Z number it says label created but there’s no activity after that. The label also has the Amazon RMA and the code RED.
I haven’t received any emails from Amazon regarding the return. Typically I receive an email right away but these are higher value items.
How do I know it’s on its way back to Amazon and not just sitting at the UPS Store?
Hello! I'm hoping to find some resources that I can pass on to my customers. I wfh for Amazon and there has been an increase in calls where the customer drops off their return at The UPS Store with a QR code and has a physical receipt for proof of return but the tracking just shows label created and they've received an email to "send us your returns to avoid being charged" .
What I've done: I went to The UPS Store to ask what was going on and the associate explained that if it is not packaged they don't track the returns since they are thrown in a bin with other returns and shipped with one tracking number for the whole lot. I can not find anything anywhere for proof. I like giving people resources so they can see the information for themselves and not just have to "trust me bro". I've exhausted my Google Fi and found nothing. Help please. TIA
When I reach out to amazon customer support about not getting refunded yet for my return, they tell me something different than what I am seeing. They haven't refunded me yet for over 2+ weeks upon receiving my items back.
Dropped off at a local UPS store, and only shows Label Created, also says: Check back tomorrow for an updated delivery date.
But amazon wont issue refund until there is any scanning in UPS system.
Twice now I've had Amazon send a reminder to return an item that was already returned via The UPS store. Fortunately I always request a receipt when I hand over the return at the UPS Store. That makes proving the return possible, and in both cases the tracking number showed Amazon had received the item.
So--always get that receipt when you hand over a return item. And probably avoid any return method that can't provide a receipt (I've only used The UPS Store, so I'm not familiar with alternatives).
So, to preface, this happened once a while back, and ended up working out fine. But the way Amazon has been changing lately and the difference in cost this time, I'm concerned.
Yesterday I dropped off three returns at the UPS Store, mine is open on Sundays. One was a $20-ish pair of shoes for my father in law, and two were network switches for me. When I got home, I expected to see the status update to "return in transit" like usual when the UPS Store scans an item.
However, my switches are both "Return started. Your refund will be processed when we receive your item." I kinda shrugged it off at first, not being sure if Sunday dropoffs were processed same day or not. But I asked my FIL about his return, and it had already updated to 'refunded in transit'.
When I check the 'view return/refund status' link, it just shows me "Return requested. Refund requested on: Feb 23, 2024". I stopped by the UPS store today, and they checked my return code. They said it showed up as "processed" for them.
And again... in the past it worked out, but this is $800 worth of gear, so I'm a little jumpy. Does anyone have more info on how this stuff is handled? Both items (three, really, two on one return, one standalone) are a bit larger than normally gets the 'no box, no label' treatment. And as I recall, that was the situation I encountered last time as well, but this is a lot more expensive. Last time I ran into it, it was like $20-30
So i bought part of my giftees present on amazon and I chose an amazon day, but when I go to mark my gift as sent it wants a trackinf number and amazon are not providing me with one. Do I have to wait until closer to the day (next Thursday) or is it a glitch? Also first time using amazon
Even though you've ordered the item, it has not actually left the Amazon warehouse. Once it is physically on its way to your giftee, you will get an email with a tracking number. Do not mark your gift as shipped until it is physically on its way.
Amazon will give you a tracking number when the item actually ships. I don't think I've ever not gotten tracking with thme.
Just give it some time!
Once it ships, you should have your number
I dropped off my amazon return on 12/28. It's now 1/11 and there is still no movement on the UPS tracking and Amazon has not received the item. My dumb self also threw away the drop off receipt. I know the exact time that I dropped it off (uber receipt). Will the store be able to reprint based on the date and time that I dropped off the item or would they push back and say no? I really want this return to go through because it's an expensive item
has anyone had luck with ups reprint of drop off receipt?
edit: got my refund in the end but UPS was no help. amazon updated on their end and shows that my return is on its way. phew
Monday I dropped off 2 returns, one of them in an Amazon Prime box and the other in some other one I had. The one in the Prime box (call this box A) was scanned and so was the other. Heres the issue, box A was scanned and he refund was processed, box B, has nothing, the tracking number says "Shipment Ready For UPS" and "When the shipment arrives at the facility it will be processed". Except I watched the guy scan it and put it down next to box A. Whats going on here? Did it get stolen, I just want my refund, if it was stolen the thief got a hardware bricked Ubiquiti Security Gateway.
abusive moderators on threaten to report me to site reddit moderators asking why I was banned when I made a comment people don't want all electrical cars, because biden related it to pollution. r/technology.
They threatened harassment because I made this comment and I asked why I was perm banned because of this statement which did not break any of their rules. Even if it did. They had banned the topic at hand:
"Ford just reported a massive loss on every electrical vehicle it sold"
This is the comment that got me perm banned down below: Reddit moderators live up to their name as the most horrible mods on this planet. As stated through multiple social media posts, through youtube, discord, etc.
I was perm banned for this comment:
"It seems people are staying clear of all electrical cars. It relies too much on power stations. If you run out of power, and you don't have a charging station around, you are screwed. Biden's all electrical car plan via EPA rule is just propaganda. It seems like the government is trying to force less freedom on us in the name of environmental safety. It would not be constitutional to force you to use an all electrical car, but that has never stopped the government from eventually finding a way to coerce you into buying whatever they want."
If USPS is involved, get informed delivery. You will see all the packages in route to your address. You have better odds of keeping track if you have it. I have found that more than 3/4 of the time, the basic Amazon support people at the first level are wrong when it comes to shipping. They just don't know what they are talking about. Maybe they have to use a script? Anyway, they get it wrong most of the time.
Do you have trustworthy neighbors? Or a doorbell cam? You are right to expect problems. They are likely in this scenario.
In future, if you have the "locker" option in your area, I would use it.
Amazon has gotten all-round shittier over the last year or so.
