Save time and effort with Google Workspace Domain Transfer for Google to Google migrations - Community Blog - Google Developer forums
December 27, 2023 - Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are common in the business world. They’re a way for companies to grow, expand into new markets, gain a competitive edge, improve efficiency and reduce costs. As part of their consolidation efforts, if the merging companies have separate Google Workspace environments, they’ll want to migrate all users into a single tenant for more effective administration and to allow for internal collaboration between existing and incoming teams.

Transferring domain ownership into an already setup Google Workspace
"Google Workspace” is not a domain registrar, so you cannot transfer a domain there. “Google Domains” is a service that offered domain registry services, but google recently sold that business to Squarespace. More on reddit.com

Move domain and user from one Workspace to another
Change their account in the source to the primary domain. Delete the secondary domain and then use it to set up the new Google Workspace account. Use the Data Transfer service in the Admin console to transfer the mail, files, and calendar events to the new account. Use Google Takeout to download the remaining data in other supported Google services. More on reddit.com

Warning novice! Transfer domain to google domains? Why?

+1 to Google domains. I've used GoDaddy, Enom, Dynadot, Gandi, and Namecheap all in the past.

Google domains seems to be the only that doesn't try to sell you anything beyond the domain itself. Enabling more advanced features like Dnssec is also decently straightforward.

They also have a free Dynamic DNS feature for your custom domains. Any other company like Dyn would charge for that. I've got a NAS at my house pointed at their dynamic DNS service.

Disclaimer: I do happen to work for Google, though not on that team. As a consumer, though, I do have 4 domains presently registered with Google domains. Those opinions are legit (and my own) 😀 I'm a happy Google Domains customer.

What is Google Workspace Domain Transfer? - Google Workspace Admin Help
All eligible domains and entities from the source environment are moved into the destination environment. Your data remains safe—No data ever leaves the Google environment during the transfer process. Transfer entities are moved, not copied—The original entity is fully maintained and all settings, history, document IDs and URLs, permissions, etc. remain the same. The only change is the owner of the transfer entities. Content shared directly to individuals is retained—Sharing with individual users or groups is not modified.

September 16, 2023 -

domain.com is currently held at HostMonster

Google Workspace was setup months ago with domain.com and verified through HostMonster with TXT info

I now want to transfer the domain.com ownership to Google so I can shut down my HostMonster account.

Google workspace isn’t showing an option to transfer a domain, just add a new domain. But the domain.com is already listed there as verified through Google Workspace
