I've not been able to find an answer anywhere in the Google docs, so I'm hoping someone can help here.
I have a client who manages several artists. The workspace has a primary domain of domain-a.com, and a secondary domain of domain-b.com.
One of the users has their account setup under the secondary domain and has about 20GB of data across Gmail and Drive. So their login is [email protected].
The artist would now like to manage their account themselves, outside of the original workspace. This means moving all the data across too.
Is there a way to create a new Workspace account with domain-b.com and keep data in tact?
Otherwise, how else should I handle the migration?
Thanks in advance!

I am shutting down my business and I have a Google Workspace account that has several domains registered under it. I want to transfer these domains to my personal google account but can not seem to figure out how to. It seems pretty clear cut if I want to transfer out to a different registrar but keeping them within google is driving me nuts! When I try to "transfer in", I get a notification that this domain is already owned by another google account and to "click here" to learn how to be added as a manager.... Frustrated and really don't want to move over to GoDaddy or anywhere else. Any help, greatly appreciated.
You will want to share domain management with your other google account. They call it “ share domain management with other users”.
See https://support.google.com/domains/answer/7179397
Share it with your other account then remove the other account.
Did you register the domains under your business name (Company?) or under your personal name ? If you change account clearly this will not change the "owner" of the domains. if in the future you were to sell one of these domains would it be in the name of the company (closed?) or in your personal name? I ask this because it is a doubt that I have. Also from the point of view of sales tax. But may be you have them for personal use and not for sale
Google Domains is not project based. Domains are managed by the identity of the domain owner.
Google Cloud Domains is in preview and is project based. At this time, there is no method to move a registered domain from one project to another. You can export the domain to Google Domains. Note: The DNS servers for a domain can be located in any project and do not need to be in the same project as Google Cloud Domains. Before exporting the domain, check to see if your domain is already being managed by Google Domains here. You will need to be using the same identity that owns the registered domain. If the domain appears, go to the other project, create the DNS servers and then enter the servers into Google Domains on the DNS tab under Name Servers. You can also change the DNS servers while in Google Cloud Domains. Select "EDIT DNS DETAILS" at the top of the Google Cloud Domains console window.
If you mean that you created the DNS server in one project and you need to move the DNS server to another project then follow these steps. Create a new DNS server in the desired project, duplicate the DNS server resource records and then update the DNS server entries in Google Domains. Wait at least 24 hours and then delete the old DNS server.
If you mean that your registered your domain under the wrong Google Account (email identity), then you can transfer the domain to the desired Google Account. Login to Google Domains with the account that you own the domain. In the interface follow the Transfer a domain out section. Get the authorization code. In another browser window, login with the desired account and transfer in the domain using the transfer authorization code.
I just transfered a domain from one project to another one.
I exported the domain from the original project and then I just imported it on the new one.
You can see both options in the imaged I attached.
