Why not have a board under each set of legs with the castors attached to those? Possibly attach the boards to the legs. That way it’ll be much more stable. More on reddit.com

I think you'd be happier with the table in the long run if you did more than just put a single piece of ply on top. You could make an apron fairly easily. I'm not so sure how it would look with that kind of leg. One option would be to turn the apron into edge banding. Use 1x2 or 1x3 of the same wood as the ply, and attach it firmly around the edge of the table. It would cover up the edge of the ply wood and it would help keep the table from sagging. Tongue and groove would be my first choice to attach the edge, but if you don't have a router, brads and glue would work. More on reddit.com

November 19, 2013Using the MITTBACK trestles as legs for a drafting table... is it any good?
IKEA tabletops do not have a ledge of any sort which might be useful in a drafting table application, though otherwise I don’t see why it wouldn’t work More on reddit.com

I’ve bought this desk and would love to put castors on it. However the legs are thin and at an angle so I’m worried there’s not enough space for the fixing to go in and maybe the desk isn’t suitable of castors.

You may have to build 2 trays big enough to accept all 4 legs of each trestle, then x4 wheels on each, rather than 1 big one. Before you put anything between the trestles, work out where your feet will go (if you are still using it as a desk)
