I opened a credit card with Truist. Then I get this letter in the mail saying my card was on hold and I needed to provide additional information. When I call I get this BS thing how I have won a 100 dollars something or other. I knew immediately this was not real. What bank on earth would try to trick a new customer with a number that is not direct. I decide to play it a bit further to see what happens. No matter what option you press, you get the same woman who is so pushy you almost can't understand what she is saying. I can't for the life of me figure out how this letter got to me. Appears 100% legit and even has the four digits of my new card. Anyway, I told this lady I did not call HER. She told me she would give me the correct number for who I was trying to reach AFTER I messed around with her. Lol... Yeah, click. More on reddit.com

January 23, 2024I just got a letter via US mail that said Truist closed my account (account # listed as XXXXXXXX+ 4 numbers I don't recognize.
Go to a nearby branch and they'll look up your account status for you and resolve any issues! Best way to go about this without risking a scam. More on reddit.com

I have been trying to open a new account with Truist and was blocked because I didn't properly answer the security questions to confirm my ID, not big deal right?
I called their customer service number (1 (844) 487-8478) and confirm my account details. The lady on the phone tells me that she needs to transfer me to the deposit monitoring department (800-448-5493) so I say yes.
When I was transferred, the lady on the phone unlocked my account after I submitted my ID. She did not ask me for my full SSN. She said I was good to continue setting up my account and ordering my debit card.
After I hung up the phone, I see that my Truist account is not unlocked. I then call back the (800-448-5493) number and it is a different lady. She asks me to provide her with my FULL SSN, full name, date of birth, and address to confirm this is my account. How come I can't just provide her with the last 4 digits and my truist account number?
Anyways, seems kinda fishy to me. Plus, when I google that number, it comes up as a scam. Does this sound legitmate to anybody? I am new to truist and this is just making me feel quite badly about it.
