From the abrasion spot on the corner of the back, my guess is that it's real leather, does it smell like leather? There are different qualities of leather, cheaper manufacturers use "bonded leather" which is bits and pieces of real leather trimmings mashed into a pulp and applied to a paper backing. Bonded leather feels thin to the touch, has no natural irregularities to its surface like genuine leather and has a vinyl smell vs. the mild smell of the real deal. From the material used to cover the underside, I'd say the chair and ottoman are not older than 1980s. But it's nice looking, classic style and should resell for $500 - $1000 easily. When reselling, I wouldn't mention it's "provenance" as having come from Goodwill. Less said, the better! More on reddit.com

I’ve had an ottoman instead of a coffee table for many years. Love that it moves around and I can put all my throw blankets in it. I put a wooden tray on top for drinks and such, but that moves around to different parts of the sofa depending on where we are sitting.
