I love the tumble rug I have, but the pad is driving me nuts! I use it in the room for my foster kittens so dust and litter gets on the pad. So sometimes I want to vacuum the pad while the rug is in the washing machine, but the stupid puzzle piece pads get sucked up into the vacuum every time! I can’t take it anymore.
I’m actually contemplating switching to a Ruggable rug in there completely even though they’re so much more expensive and I don’t know if they’re water/pet proof like tumble rugs are, but if I can just get the Ruggable pad and it will work, it will solve all my problems.
I have a dog that sheds and am looking for a washable rug option and would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on which option above is best. I’m planning on getting either 8x10 or 9x12 with a cushioned pad. I know that Amazon is the least expensive but if Ruggable/Tumble are worth it, I would make the investment. Any suggestions are appreciated!
I realize there might be a better sub for this, but I am at such a loss and this feels really niche no matter which decor sub I use lol.
I purchased a Tumble rug a while back, and originally placed it in a large, carpeted playroom for my daughter. Even using the no-slip grippers that came with the rug, the thing migrated SO easily that it was a twice-weekly chore to take up the rug, disassemble the pad, put it back together in the place I wanted it to be, and re-cover it with the rug. It would be moved again by the end of the day. Tumble themselves says in their instructions to be careful where you place the pad, because once assembled it would be hard to move—this warning would be funny if it weren’t rage-inducing instead.
That was a large room, and although I was extremely irritated, it was still a cute rug and I knew I was moving soon so I just dealt with it, hoping we would find a space with a hard floor.
Now, however, we’ve moved into a new home and the rug does fit, but the rooms are carpeted and the fact that the rug moves so easily makes it effectively unusable for me. I have tried:
-
carpet tape (doesn’t adhere to the pad),
-
gorilla wall mounting tape (doesn’t adhere to the pad),
-
placing a side of the rug under furniture (the pads not secured by furniture move and the pad comes apart),
-
taping just the edges of the carpet (the pad actually moves underneath the carpet even when the carpet itself is taped down), and
-
just not using the pad (the rug is washable, so it wrinkles and looks like a thick blanket if not used with the pad).
Does anyone have have any experience at all with Tumble on carpet? I have scoured the internet and no review I can find mentions this anywhere. I’m unfortunately well past the return window, too.
Thanks in advance
