It’s been a while since you posted but here’s my honest review. I’ve had 2 tumble rugs in my main living areas for 2 months. I would rate them a 2 out of 5 stars. Pros: any liquid that gets on them does puddle up which makes it very easy to clean the patterns are pretty cute Cons: they are IMPOSSIBLE to move once the pads are down. Even if you want to scoot it a few inches over, the pads pull apart and you have to disassemble/reassemble the whole thing they don’t lay flat. The top cover wrinkles up which makes it visually unappealing they’re very hard to vacuum because they don’t lay flat. My vacuum wants to suck it up which is super annoying. I would NOT recommend them especially with how expensive they are. Answer from Junior-Session8529 on reddit.com

Instagram has been showing me lots of ads for tumble rugs. Does anyone have them and if so do you like/ dislike them? I stayed away from ruggable because I heard it’s basically just like a canvas on the floor and I’m wondering if tumble is the same. Thank you!

Are they worth it? I have two kids, a dog, and three cats. I want something that’s durable and will withstand the wear and tear. Anyone out there have a Ruggable or Tumble rug? Honest reviews please!

I’m sure you’ve already made up your mind since this post was a year ago, but for anyone else wondering: we have 3 Tumble rugs (a 7 ft runner, 10 ft runner, and 9x12 rug). The 9x12 is used in the kids’ play/school room and they constantly drop stuff or color on it. We have had bottles of paint (washable kids’ paint) and Elmer’s glue dropped on it, as well as kids and dogs poop, pee, and throw up on it, all which has washed out like a charm. I’ve washed it 6-7 times and it always comes out looking fantastic. This rug is my absolute favorite, and I’m thinking about updating our living room rug with a Tumble the same size. We have no problems with the rug moving (but it’s huge so that helps), it fits nicely in our washer, and the it’s been amazing. Sometimes if I forget to click my vacuum to “high pile” it does pull on the rug especially on the edges, but I can still vacuum it and if your vacuum has that setting it works great. The two runners are great too, but we do have a bit more problem with them moving around. They’re in high traffic areas, the smaller one being in an area that is 1/2 carpet 1/2 tile, where kids and dogs are running around a corner causing the rug to slip around more. I honestly think this would happen to any rug though, so it doesn’t bother us. The runners get washed bi-weekly (I can’t even count how many times total) and have held up amazingly and always come out looking vibrant and clean. The dogs love to lay in one spot on the rug (which is why that rug is there as our carpet just can’t handle it) and it goes into the wash dirty as hell, and comes out as clean as I bought it. One of our dogs also does this thing where she nervously scratches the rug where she lays, and we’ve never had a problem with the fibers pulling or anything. She has destroyed multiple dog beds and a sectioning of couch, but that rug holds up to it just fine. It has saved our carpet in that one area from needing immediate replacement. I do not have a Ruggable as in researching before purchasing I thought I’d prefer the rug corners slipping over the rug pad with Tumble, versus lining up the velcro with Ruggable, but that is just my personal preference. Tumble also had a better price, at least at the time.

Help! I bought a huge tumble rug to help with having 2 huge dogs. I've had it for 2 months and so far no complaints. It lays down nicely, wipes off spots as advertised and vacuums easily. However, after 2 months it's just dirty and looks it. Literally, just looks like there's dirt all in it, cause there is.I washed as instructed and it looks EXACTLY the same. Dirty! I'm tempted to screw the washing instructions and go rough and high water temperature. I will be so sad if it looks this gross for forever. I don't care if the more intense wash ruins the wipeable coating. Anyone else found a better way to wash these rugs?

Ruggable cheapest 8x10ft rug - $489
Tumble cheapest 8x10ft rug - $389

From seeing them in person:

Ruggable has a cheaper look to them where the design clearly looks like it’s been printed on.

Tumble rugs look higher quality more like the design is woven in the fabric. I’m not sure if they are better woven or printed, but they at least certainly look higher quality. Tumble also have a Spillproof aspect to them that really does work.

I’ve newly discovered the world of washable rugs only to not find any with good recommendations? I’m not looking for anything fancy, just something that can be thrown in the washing machine and won’t get sucked up by my vacuum. I’d be getting a 5x7 or even 5x6 if I can find it. I’ve seen Ruggable and Tumble Rugs but seem to only be seeing the bad reviews. I see that Amazon has some but again, more bad reviews than good. So I’m hopeful that Reddit can help me narrow down at least where I should buy one.

I got a tumble rug for my daughter's room and it's really great how washable it is, but it states very clearly that you shouldn't use it with robot vacuums due to the edges (and even with a regular vacuum you aren't supposed to vacuum the edges) the same goes for Ruggable brand. I've been closing her door during the day when it runs but we move soon and I was hoping to get one for the play area of the living room. The point of the Roomba is to keep me from all the vacuuming (especially with a dog who sheds).

What kind of rugs do folks have which seem to hold up to the roomba (even if they aren't washable)?

Potty training toddler.

We got a large wool rug for a steal at Home Goods but now after several years, it feels gross. We live in a rural area so it’s not easy to take it somewhere to clean. We wanted a rug in the living room since that’s where our son plays most of the time, and when he was crawling, we wanted something softer than hardwood.

We’ve spot cleaned it but it’s hard to clean.

Now I’m really intrigued by washable rugs (tumble, Ruggable). Has anyone had these? What’s your review?

Or maybe I’ll just get rid of rugs all together. I got rid of the rug in his room because I was tired of picking cheerios out of it and it was so much easier to sweep the hardwood! 😂

I love the tumble rug I have, but the pad is driving me nuts! I use it in the room for my foster kittens so dust and litter gets on the pad. So sometimes I want to vacuum the pad while the rug is in the washing machine, but the stupid puzzle piece pads get sucked up into the vacuum every time! I can’t take it anymore.

I’m actually contemplating switching to a Ruggable rug in there completely even though they’re so much more expensive and I don’t know if they’re water/pet proof like tumble rugs are, but if I can just get the Ruggable pad and it will work, it will solve all my problems.

I’m thinking about switching to washable rugs because keeping regular ones clean is getting annoying.

From what I’ve seen, there are a few different styles out there. Ruggable is popular for its two-piece system , and Tumble for being one-piece and non-slip. And then there are more straightforward washable rugs like GARVEE that seem focused on easy maintenance.

Washable sounds great. But I’m not sure which style actually works best long term. And I’m wondering how they hold up over time. Do they curl after washing? Does the backing start to wear out? And do they still feel okay to walk on after a few washes?

If you’ve been using washable rugs for a while, did they genuinely make things easier, or did they come with new annoyances? Would love to hear real experiences.

November 24, 2023 - Thats strange- because the author of this thread asked if they applied the coating before or after OEKO cert. and they said after OEKo cart- so definitely contradictory information. Original Tumble rep. answer "Yes, our rugs are OEKO-TEX certified before the coatings are applied.".

I bought $2,000 worth of Ruggable brand rugs. I read the reviews, everybody seemed to have a good time with them, so I went ahead and took the plunge. I have 300+ pounds of dog, and they are all maniacs that are constantly coming in and out of the house.

The rugs are ok looking, but the big selling point for me was the washability. I have a pro-grade top of the line extra large washer. It can fit the Ruggables easily, but the rugs are so big that the washer cannot properly clean them. The sheer size causes the rugs to act as a filter- keeping hair and debris inside the rug while water drains out. And, even with oxi clean and a number of other stain fighting cleaning products, after 2 years, they are stained up and gross looking.

I gave up and called the company that washed my old oversized rugs to come and take them, and they did, and they look great again, but now they have shrunk. And I never have dealt with that with my old area rugs. Apparently they wash a lot of Ruggables because the driver immediately recognized the pattern and said "you can't get them clean, can you? Ruggable keeps us in business". Which was a dumb thing to say and didn't help, but let the buyer beware I guess.

So, if you are thinking about buying Ruggables I highly suggest saving the money, buy some rugs you love for cheaper, and use the money you saved to just have your new rugs professionally cleaned.

I have an 8x10 Ruggable. It washes up nicely, and ours really needs to be washed more regularly because of our dog. However, the rug pad came in two pieces that NEVER align properly and make putting the rug back down a complete nightmare-as I get started and move from one half to the other, the pad that is now partly attached to the rug gets pulled toward the side I’m working and then the two pads overlap, creating a bump along the “middle seam”. Or the two halves wok themselves apart so the seam becomes a little dip down the center of the rug. If I try to get a corner into the pocket on the rug, it won’t lay flat. It takes me 45 min-hour to get it right, meaning that the pad is actually covered completely & not peeking out, no “bubbles” and no bump along the center line. It is so aggravating I am about to throw the entire thing into a fire! Why doesn’t Ruggable provide a one-piece pad for larger rugs?!

I bought a large (9x12) washable rug from Tumble. I went with Tumble because I love the pattern and I love the actual rug. However, I HATE the rug pad. It’s terrible. Also I’m fairly sure that this rug has shrunk even though I washed in cold and hung it to dry, and now the edge of the pad sticks out.

Has anyone ever purchased a different rug pad for a Tumble rug? I don’t want it to shift but honestly I feel like it moves around with this stupid rubber puzzle pad It came with.
