Dinosaurs TV show: Start watching the ’90s family sitcom with “Hurling Day.”
April 27, 2020 - But if I had my druthers, the series—starring the Sinclairs, a blue-collar family of enormous-eyed animatronic dinosaurs in Pangaea—would be streaming on every available service during the pandemic. I’ve been thinking about the show not just because the concept is silly or because of the incredible actors who lent their voices to it, including Jessica Walter as Fran, the patient, beleaguered mom, and frequent cameos by the likes of Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tim Curry, and Michael McKean.

"Dinosaurs" was a mostly fun and lighthearted sitcom that many of us watched as kids, but it sure had a dark series finale
The reason the shows we watched as kids seemed 'darker' and occasionaly dealt with more mature themes was because TV was often a family affair. Most homes in the 90's only had cable/satallite in one room (actually, a lot of homes only had one TV altogether) You could all sit together and watch it and if you saw something that scared or worried you, you could talk about it with you parents. Nowadays, thanks to streaming and everyone having their own devices, there are less 'family' shows and more 'adult' and 'kid' shows, with most children's shows written and produced with the intention to be watched unsupervised and will therefore avoid darker topics. Obviously, not all modern shows are like this. The past decade has produced some excellent and well written kids shows but it's a shame there is so little family content. More on reddit.com

April 26, 1991 - Blue-collar dinosaur Earl Sinclair tries to cope with short-tempered boss Bradley P. Richfield of the Wesayso Corporation so he can put food on the table for his large family: sweet-natured and long-suffering wife Fran, rebellious teenage son Robbie, shop-til-she-drops daughter Charlene and precocious Baby, not to mention his crusty mother-in-law, Ethyl. On his rare night out, Earl pals around with his buddy Roy Hess. The show touched on a number of topical issues, including environmentalists, endangered species, LGBT rights, censorship and corporate crime.

The Lost World (TV Series 1999–2002) - IMDb
October 2, 1999 - Working out of Veronica's huge tree house (a split-level that Tarzan would have been envious of), the characters would, each week, encounter everything from dinosaurs (created through CGI, and, while not quite 'realistic', still vastly superior to the stop-motion models, puppets, or rear-screen projected lizards of previous "Lost World" adaptations), to sophisticated cultures practicing human sacrifice, to demons and wizards, to nearly any kind of bizarre civilization one might imagine.

August 19, 2025 - This is undoubtedly the most iconic dinosaur series of the 90s, an animated sitcom centered around the Sinclair family, a group of Cretaceous dinosaurs. With dry humor and unforgettable characters like Earl, the grumpy father of the family, Rex, the clumsy teenage son, and Baby Sinclair, the baby dinosaur whose famous phrase “Not you, mommy,” Dinosaurs, in addition to entertaining audiences of all ages, also addressed social issues in an intelligent and satirical way.

July 7, 2025 - The Porters live in a large "treehouse" (although it is actually built between a series of large logs and not rooted trees) that the family built after they realized their tents provided little safety from dangerous dinosaurs. After their first encounter with the dinosaur Scarface, they devised an alarm system by stringing up a series of empty tin cans surrounding the treehouse perimeter that would shake and make noise if Scarface were to show up again.

An obscure spinoff of PaleoWorld, Boneheads Detectives of the PaleoWorld focused on a younger audience, positively screaming of the "X-Treme 90s." Headlined by Nickelodeon star Danny Tamberelli, the show focused on Allie and Sam, two siblings who "dug the work" of their paleontologist grandfather.
