Just got a Malm hydraulic lift-up storage bed, queen. I want to raise it to at least double the height. The easiest solution is to get another and stack them (attached).
That's at least a thousand dollars. I'm thinking if I'm spending 1K, there's gotta be a taller turnkey solution out there. But doesn't look like it.
Anyone done this? What are other solutions? I only like the hydraulic because I won't be able to open the drawers with furniture next to it.
Edit to add - yes, stacking the beds on top of each other. There's some DIY work to this with designing and creating a part to securely attach the beds together. Have someone who can do this.

Stack them how? Stacking in my mind means on top of each other. If you meant next to each other, then you'd have enough space for under bed storage drawers, so it seems you do mean on top of each other. But then the bottom one couldn't open, so it would be useless? A possible other solution: high sleeper, with regular storage cabinets underneath. (my son's high sleeper in his student dorm has a whole desk underneath, surely you could put a few cabinets there with doors that open underneath the bed instead of outward into other furniture.) BTW, what is the reason you want to double the height of the Malm? for double the storage, or for conveniently getting in and out of bed?

if you plan to sleep on it, i do NOT recommend the hemnes you posted. i stay on one pretty regularly at a friends, and i have hit my head on that stupid frame more times than i can count.

The Hemnes and Brimnes expand to accommodate two twin size mattresses. I bought the Hemnes earlier this year and have had no problems aside from cats sneaking underneath when it's pulled out. I can assure you that the Hemnes fits adults with no issue on either single or double configuration. I've included a picture of it in single mode with the main cculprit that gets under the extended bed

Hi,

The bed is very sturdy, ours is 5 years old, no issues. But I really need to throw out the stuff we stored there 5 years ago when we bough it and never used since.

We have had a superking one for over 10 years,we are both very overweight and it’s still fine and the lifting mechanism is still OK. I have fixed an under-cabinet LED light strip under the ledge on my side so when I come to bed late, I can have the light shining only on the floor on my side to not wake my partner. I would invest in some soft corner protectors for your shins too, I catch my legs regularly!

Are the Malm bed frame and the Malm high frame with under bed storage boxes the same besides the storage boxes? (Not the lift up storage, the drawers)
I need to buy a new bed, and I want the one with the storage drawers but they’re out of stock. I don’t need them immediately so I don’t mind waiting on them, but I can’t tell if they fit under the bed they aren’t listed as being sold with. Wasn’t there a high and low frame at one point? Does the high only come with the boxes?

Yes, the MALM bedframe with storage boxes is literally just the MALM bedframe combined with MALM underbed storage drawers. They are 2 entirely separate items.
