Hi all,
I’ve been down a deep rabbit hole of trying to to find nontoxic couch which looks comfortable. During this process I learned that ikea is actually free from a lot of toxins of concern. Or at least there are low levels of them.
Are ikea beds safe too? Specifically this bed. I’ve been avoiding buying it due to particle board and fiberboard but if I don’t have to avoid it, I know my toddler would LOVE this bed

All of what they use for furniture is going to be similar as far as offgassing and lower levels, so if that's something you're good with then you're fine! I was considering some second hand myself when my spouse got the bug to just build ours.

I feel comfortable with IKEA, personally. My preschooler has the Kura bed and my toddler has the Tarva twin bed. Both kid rooms and the playroom are IKEA. Their kid stuff holds up well too.

May 4, 2021 - We have one for our son and we've used it in both configurations. It will take a regular twin bed, but IKEA posts a max thickness to make sure that there is enough height to the "walls" to be safe for kids.

Where are the good beds? Has anyone ever purchased one from Max & Lilly? I’m looking at a couple of their basic twin beds. Wayfair overwhelms me. Pottery barn and west elm are too pricey. Want to spend around $300.
I have a toddler who just turned 3 and want to move her from the convertible crib to a twin bed that isn’t too high off the ground. Was thinking full but the room isn’t that big and we don’t have a play room. When she is going into middle school in like 10 years we can upgrade from twin to full anyway.

We haven't yet, but I'll probably get my kids bed from ikea. Lots of price points and I like the ones that have storage under the bed.

Honestly, maybe I’m the weird one here but having slept on a twin bed until midway through college… there’s nothing wrong with a twin, as long as your kiddo doesn’t get way too tall for one as a teen. Our house is small, we can’t move for the foreseeable future, and when the kids are old enough they’ll be in twin bunk beds, probably from marketplace or Craigslist (so free or close to). Definitely peruse secondhand boards, there’s some good stuff on there if you’re willing to look regularly and email or text with strangers. We’re also coming up on estate sale season, and I’ve seen some great beds at estate sales.
