Google Ads Keyword Match types in 2021
I find that modified broad keywords are solid for me starting out, and make up the majority of keywords on most of my clients' accounts. Phrase match added for when we ideally need words in a specific order (or don't want Google to deviate too far with close variance), exact match for top-performing search terms.
I strongly dislike campaigns grouped by match type when we should be aiming to better service a user's search intent. Also very anti-SKAG. I'm in favor of grouping keywords in ad groups with a singular theme, and that includes the same keyword with multiple match types. With automation, Google should put the more restrictive match types first, or with manual bidding, I stack my bids based on length of keyword and/or more-restrictive match types.
